Okay, I don't know if its been done, but I thought it would be cool to put together an imperial guard force mounted in up-armored chimera that look very similar to the ancient roman legionnaire.
The problem is that I have NO idea what bits i could use to make them, I honestly would like to change the arms to have the segmentata armor and shoulders, as well as the heads, but still have them packing las-rifles and grenades. So I turn to you, fellow Dakka(ers?) any ideas on how to acheive the look

And also to kill multiple birds, could i use the warlord games romans or are they sized to incorrectly?

I was about to suggest warlord romans. Buy one of the starter kits (which are plastic) and go from there. You got rough riders, troops and heavy weapons there

The arms will be easy to get from victoria miniatures as i think they will suit in terms of looks.

The other idea i had was to make a unit from a barbaric world and use warlord games britons to do it

All work, alternatively you could just do a head swap on cadians (or any other humany models with guns) and buy the roman sheild packs and go from there...

28mm, like all historical minis the scale is more realistic but yes they are pretty much the same. I have a game with them in like 3 hours so I can post a comparrisson shot for you?

But yes same scale, just a bit thinner like normal people.

Maybe get different heads and obviously buy LOTS of las rifles
Which will then be modified

awesome. I may do the same as well... Especially with all the flags on their backs it would look cool.

Good luck!

I have some wargames factory models if you want a scale photo of them. Not ashigaru but still.

The Warlord Games Roman kits are actually pretty decent if you wanted to go this route. It might be a little interested to mod them but they'd look pretty cool when finished.

This is factory site, they usually send all models to shops and not sell directly.

Robogear is 38mm scale robots and small flyers
Bronepehota 38mm infantry
Fantasy Battles 54mm skirmish figurines
Castle Craft 28mm castles and figurines (but figures difficult to convert)
Z.O.D. 6mm (1/300) Mechs, tanks, flyers and infantry
Строительные наборы (Construction kits) - terrain good for 28mm scale. Mostly produced for foreign counties and very difficult to find it in Russia itself
They also have very nice Videoman Alien figurine (but too big for Warhammer)
They have big plans to expand product but don't have resources for it

There are many products, that is exists, but not shown in site, like ruins terrain, cannons,

Robogear Salamander with GW pilot and autocannon, size close to Sentinel

Robogear walker, much bigger than Sentinel

Robogear Condor - 99% feats size of Marines Storm Talon

You could also do it simple and just paint them up in the same colors as the romans, silver armor and red cloth. And maybe greenstuff that thing that sticks out on the back of the helmets and the layered shoulders.

Most historicals, like the Perry brothers miniatures, are 28mm true scale, not the 28-30mm heroic scale. Put together, they look awful. I'd be embarrassed to put them on the table.

For Roman parts, albeit designed for Marines, go to anvil Industries page and have a look see.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

the warlord romans are to small to be IG models, I'd suggest checking out www.anvilindustry.co.uk

they have a lot of GW scale roman bits

I hate "heroic" scale, looks messed up. I prefer true scale, not too much difference, nobody notices it in my forces.

They are thinner and more natural looking, but are about the same height, not much difference once they are all on bases and painted.

So what you be saying Hobbs is that warlord games is a no go... what bout other companies like wargames factory, is it also rather noticible?
