Just writing a 1200 pt list, and just sort of getting it where I would like it (not optimised, but I enjoy the theme a tad more) any way I'll list it:

Lords 185pts
Master Necro w/
Master of the Dead, LoV

Heroes 229pts

Necro w/
LoV, Ironcurse Icon

Vampire w/
LoD, HA, Book of Arkhan, Dragonbane Gem,
Enchanted Shield, Sword of Might

Core 300pts

5x Dire Wolves

30 Skeletons w/
FC, Banner of Swiftness

20 Zombies
Muso

Special 138pts

3x Varghiests

Rare 285
4 Blood Knights w/
Standard, Flag of Blood Keep

Comes in at 1137pts

Will be playing lizards, wood elves and dwarves so can't really meander up the board otherwise will be shot to death hence Swiftness, BoA etc..

Varghs and Bloods go up flanks, while skellies with Vamp and Baby necro go up middle, with zombie bunker behind.

The bit that I can't decide on is what to do with the extra 63 pts, I'd like an extra necro for IoN, but don't know what to drop or would I be better served by an extra level on the Master, another Blood knight, or a variety of other things.

Just need a hand with the last bit.

Easy, drop the units you're putting characters into by one. Not only do you then get complete ranks with no extra one guy in the back, but you can raise more anyway, especially with the extra Necro

A solid idea, however it looks as if that would bring the minimum core below 25%. Give your Dire wolves a Doom Wolf to make it up? Might just work perfect. Darkness, I love our creatures of the night!

As far as the extra points, your Master could use a ward. Maybe the 5+, which is 30 pts if I remember. Then you could give your Vamp the Opal Amulet, which is a 1 time 4+ ward. I like that combo'd with the Enchanted Shield. Buuut you've got the dragonbane gem and you would need to shift the book of arkhan over to the necro... hmmm. Think ward saves though.
