My friend has picked up a Dark Angel flyer (not sure which).

Was just wondering if I should expect carnage?

I play Orks.
Whats an effective counter? I have my Dakkajet, or Lootas...

Any thoughts?

Use both.

DA fliers are really bad. And the more fliers he have in his army the better.
The Dakkajet isnt really that good either, but imo better then the DA ones.

If you use the Dakkajet, pray to Gork and Mork that you get to deploy second.
Hopefully he will get his planes in at turn 2. And you will fly in and shoot him down with Waagh.
They have armour 11 so it shouldnt be a problem blasting it down with str 6 attacks.
If you want to rely on lootas its much easier, just point and shoot.
They have a high rate of fire and only lose 50% of their shots when snap fiering.
Also remember that you can move them this turn, to get better cover, they snap shot anyway.

I had some problems with my lootas vs Dark Eldar.
Because his fliers have large blast missiles that can take out the lootas on the turn they come in.
Two of those missiles + a splinter cannon kills lootas pretty quick.
But the DA fliers are pathetic.

Just ignore the flyer. Orkses can afford ignoring flyers on the whole. When u're done with more dangerous things - shoot it down with lootas that can go to ground and still shoot effectively. Just don't try to change stuff to counter a flyer.

The dark angels flyers are underrated in my opinion

Whilst on their own they aren't all that special, it's the synergy with other units that really makes them scary

Dropping your initiative ahead of a deathwing charge can be deadly to your mob of boys.

However, if you kill the deathwing then the flyer won't be too scary
