What's up guys? I just came out of a 2 week stay at a luxurious hotel (ok that's a lie, i was hospitalized) and decided i deserved a nice 40k treat for motivation and to keep busy while I continue to recover at home.

The thing is i own a lot of armies and im not sure which ones to splurge on. My initial reaction is to go all in on my favorite army (Nids) followed by my runner ups (CSM, SM, Daemons) but those armies are big enough as is, so I started to look at the underdogs in my inventory. Problem is that I don't know enough about them to sit here and be like 'oh yeah I should def get this!' with my usual 110% certainty. My little recovery gift im aiming to fork over about a grand in total split up between 5 choice armies so averaging out to spending bout 200 a piece at most.

So now that you understand the situation here is a look at my Blood Angels whom have been rendered super ineffective in 6th ed. So you can run ideas by me.

LEGEND
Bold = SPLASHABLE - what this means is that these models are what i consider generic splashable models that I use in all my armies. they tend to not be painted, typically primed or unpainted. Example = Devastators/Long Fangs, Dreadnoughts, etc

Red = NOT OWNED - these units are things i don't own yet but are what I was thinking of buying, when looking for ways to improve my current inventory. So you can help me in deciding if I should get these red label items or not. Are they the best choice?

Why Do I like Blood Angels?
I really wanted to build an army around jump infantry and BA lets me do just that unlike any other SM chapter. So DoA style lists in 5th to me looked extremely appealing. However we all know 6th ed has not been kind to these kinds of lists. So if I were to upgrade my inventory to boost what I currently own, what would the best choices be?

Which is going to be 6 months at best....

If you are going to buy anything make sure you only get stuff that is "Splashable" (no idea where you got that term from really) or you magnetize.

There's a 95% chance the new BA codex will suck, so I wouldn't get your hopes up personally.

Baals will make nice editions since you have none. Magnetisethe weapon options so it's either the flamestorm or the assault cannons though.

But yeah, otherwise you could wait til the new dex, but I've no idea when that might be. I don't believe tjere's any BA rumours for it o b anytime soon.

you don't know what splashable means? Take it you don't play any card games?? it typically refers to a card that can go in any deck.

In a 40k sense. a unit that could be fielded for any space marine force, a.k.a 'count as' because it's pretty much the same gak in every space marine codex. Thus if you wanted to play using every space marine chapter you don't need to go out and buy $10,000 of the same stuff. Just buy 1 set and use it for whatever chapter you want.

Makes sense??

Also I don't think BA are coming out any time soon but perhaps I should listen to you guys and just hold off lest i buy these guys and then have a tyranid codex moment after.

Baals and Vindicators. Run in groups, the Baals can scout and do a lot of early damage, while the fast Vindicators can move 12", shoot 24" and insta kill most things with their sweet S10 pie plates. I like to run at least two of each, if not three. The vindies can also be ran in other armies if you so chooses. Mephiston is still a boss, and an unpainted metal version is easy to get on eBay, here or Bartertown cheap.

How so? They can't get any worse, the only way I can see them "sucking" is if they change their playstyle so that jumping marines aren't a particularly great... but to be honest, their fluff structure is massed Tactical Marines, they just play more distinctly with assault marines.

Although now that I think about it, Vanguard Vets have a guaranteed nerf coming and you can expect Blendernoughts to as well.

Well, what we can safely assume from the trends in 6th edition so far;

+Tactical marines down to 14 (from 16) points but lose "free" weapons.
+Assault marines down to 17 (from 18) points, may or may not be allowed melta and plasma weapons anymore.
+Captains and librarians going down in points by a lot, and more options/relics.
-Blender-claws likely nerfed to only allow 1 extra attack...no infinite looping.
-Vanguards cannot assault from reserve
Not sure where the vehicle prices will go, but vanilla las preds got a lot cheaper, and vindicators got more expensive.
No idea what they are going to do with libby dreads, as without their own psychic discipline to pull from they get.....weird.
+Sang guard will probably be a lot cheaper (guessing 30 points each) but still likely a bad unit overall.

The main problem with Blood Angels is....they are an assault based T4 power armored chapter in an edition where both power armor and assault is.....unwise. Unless someone has a terrific math failure, the army will be mediocre at best. Look at the current power armored books from 6th edition;

Chaos is cultists + oblits + helldrakes....no power armor there outside of maybe plague marines, which are T5 with FnP.
Vanilla is bikes Storm Talons and thunderfires....no T4 power armor there.
Dark Angels are typically ravenwing + dakka banner + toys.....no T4 power armor there.

T4 and power armor is just mediocre now. Without an invul you can and will be shot off the board much too easily by the heaps of plasma, rending shuri-kats and other unpleasantness that now exist.
