I understand the WFB rules that standard bearers are treated as ordinary units, but what do people do about the model carrying the standard if it's in an archer unit? Would it be a bit odd to mod a regular archer to carry a bow in one hand and the standard in the other? From a realism perspective a standard could always be stuck into the ground temporarily and in my eyes it makes just as much sense for a standard bearer to carry a bow as a GW.

Trivial I know, but I'd like to know what others do The archers in question are Darkshards. Thanks!

Praying for the day Dwarves are deleted from every game they've ever appeared in (starting with Blood Bowl).

The other player needs a banner or something to see that the unit has one. How you do it is up to you.

You could use the normal version or convert something. You could even try some sort of smaller banner on the back to not hinder weapon usage. Or make the banner stuck into the ground a little diorama with some extra equipment surrounding the pole to keep it stable or something like that.

As long as it is usable for both players you should do whatever is the most fun to you.

Do you mean the character battle standard bearer, or the archer units standard bearer?
afaik most units in fantasy have the option for a command section including musician, champion and standard bearer.

You could have a 2nd standard in the unit by having a hero battle standard bearer join them? And this character model has no reason to look a part of the unit he goes with, unless you simply want it to... no reason not to either lol
(its been a long time since I played so apologies if thats no longer the case)
