So with the rumors, it is possible Imperial Knights will be available for 40k soon.

I knew nothing about their fluff until this morning and have been reading about them as much as possible. I really like their background and want to work one in to my fluff. I know that the Knights aren't actually apart of the Ad-Mech, but due to my chapter having favor with the Ad-Mech, is it possible that a Knight could get stationed to a planet? From what I have read so far, all knights are nobles of their planets, and belong to reserve Titan legions, so I really don't understand how one would get placed with a chapter, even for one battle. I guess I am asking how the fluff works for these guys joining another imperial faction, is it exactly the same as a full Titan aka on loan for an important battle/ campaign?

Knights aren't Titans, or really affiliated with the Titan Legios at all.

The Knight Houses are an independent organisation affiliated with the AdMech. If your chapter requested Knights to act as guardians over, say, their recruiting world it might be granted - assuming they had something key to offer in return, for example a working STC wafer fragment.

Thank you, that is actually the exact answer I needed, with the two missing puzzle pieces I needed for this to be clear in my head. My fluff would already allow for a Knight in this case, thank you so much!

Also, how many Knights typically would be allocated, as in, how big is a typical Knight "squad" (or whatever a group is called), even if you information comes from Epic 40k, I just need a rough number to write in to fluff.

Can't remember what the cards in the game fielded, but Titan Legions came with 10 Paladin Knights, so probably around that and a Baron to lead would probably be enough for a *small* household. That aside they tended to come in detatchment squads of 3 for the variants such as Errants, Castellans, Crusaders and so on.

Stompas also came in squads of 3 in TL tho, so such a household plus some variants as support would be a powerful force indeed.

Direct inspiration would not be out of the realms of possibility, but to be honest, there's only so many different shapes a bipedal war machine can be.

And it's not like Battletech didn't borrow stuff themselves.

(I still don't understand why even the non-macross-based stuff got "unseen" as well. It's not like HG owned Battle armour Dougram OR Crusher Joe).
