So I have wanted to get some MANZ for some time but always hated the fact that I could only buy one model at a time. Then rumors about a plastic kit becoming available made me all giddy inside. However with the new Tyranid release, the hive guard got a new kit with three models (I have a feeling that the MANZ kit will have the same) costs around 70 USD new. My question to the community should I just pick up some MANZ now or shell out for the plastic kit because if I buy three finecast now it would be relatively the same price but it is..... finecast.

The price went down per model for hive guards (they used to be 24.75$ CAD each, so technically you save 4.25$), and they'd probably go down for plastic MANZ as well. Slightly related, the Hive Guard kit also comes with the Tyrant Guard bitz, so not only is it cheaper, you technically get more out of it.

You could of course get some alternative ones, Kromlech has some really good looking ones for example

This is true. Especially if you don't want to wait.

I would be very surprised if GW were to make Mega-Armor that looks cooler than the Kromlech versions. Unfortunately, neither option is very cheap, but there is also the added benefit that the Kromlech ones are about as large as Ghazhkull.

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

3 MANz right now cost about $67 USD. I'd imagine if a plastic kit was released it would be $60 with all da propa kombi weapons and maybe even bitz of a MA Mek, instead of what we have now where we can buy either the kombi-skorcha or kombi-rokkit model, but the TL-shoota has been discontinued.

BUT MY DREAM SCENARIO is if it was exactly like terminators where we get a box of 5 for $50. I mean, an assault termies has way more detail on the model than a meganob and with more bitz in the kit, so why not a similar price range?

Other than a blatant money grab, I can't see any reason to price them higher than Terminators or Wraithguard for the same numbers.

To be fair the new Hive Guard etc box is terrific, and you end up with a lot of extra stuff.

We want MANZ and we're holding out for the new kit - altho' we play occasionally at GW, hence couldn't go for the Kromlech ones. Some models are better in Finecast (for instance, the Tyranid Venomthrope is terrific and will never be as good in plastic), but I think the chunky nature of meganobz is such that they will look great in plastic. And surely everyone who likes Orks, likes having a bunch of extra bitz to bodge into some new creation?

Ooh, thanks. I love learning new things.

Personally, I think MANZ are something that should remain metal. >>

Any particular reason why you think that? I'm working on an old metal Dreadnought and I'm really appreciating the ludicrous heft of an all-metal walker that weighs like two pounds.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of combo kit in the next Ork codex with MANz and some kind of similar mega armored Nob troop, like mega armored Flash Gitz or something. That said, I wouldn't expect them to come 3 to a box for Centiruon/Hive Guard prices unless they upscale them to 50mm base models with proportions to match. 40k Radio said Orks will be coming in June - they've been really good on rumors so far (getting Space Marines and Knights down to a T) but I'm still skeptical of anything that far out. If you're really dying for MANz right now, the Kromlech ones are good (even if they don't quite fit the 40k aesthetic, close as they may be) or if you're feeling really adventurous with plasticard, you can convert your own. Some folks convert Terminators to MANz, but the proportions are all wrong and they generally look pretty lousy.

I just feel that something as big and bulky as Meganobz should have a decent heft to the model itself. You pick up the third edition Ghazkul model (the only mega-armoured model I'm really familiar with) and you get the feeling yeah, this is a serious piece of kit. This guy means business.

I pick up, say, the Black Reach Warboss and get no feel of impetus from it. It's just a plastic figure. Metal gives hefty models soul, I guess?

I certainly wouldn't want to see Mega-armor get up-scaled to Centurion styled 50mm based figures. Everything in 40K keeps trending towards larger and larger figures, which I can really only see as just to help drive the prices. There's nothing wrong with the size of the normal Mega armor figures versus the other models in the Ork army.

I really dont want to see Mega Armour get scaled up eather. Mostly because it means that my Ghazghkull will be out of date :(. I'd rather not paint another Ghazzy, it took me a week straight to paint my current one.
