Could you, in an army with Genestealers, add infantry from other races as "Brood brothers"? It would make sense as far as I know, because genestealer cults keep the brood brothers around even after destroying the planet, right?

Not by any official rules, no.

just do it lol, dont take rediculious stuff just take guardsmen and so on. Would be cool if you converted that.

Yeah, was just going to take some Wychs and some Kabalite from my old Dark Eldar army. Probably still will for games at home.

You could convert other races models to look like Genestealer cultists and just use them as Genestealers.

I'd do that If I hadnt already built all of my Eldar. I think I have some broken ones though, could fix them up with Genestealer parts

Genestealer Cult armies were great until they got Squated. I think I still have a limo hiding around here someplace.

According to the 2nd edition Codex (which as far as I know has the only rules for GS cults), no the Tyranids don't keep the Brood Brothers around after they get there. As the cult gets bigger it acts as a psychic beacon to draw the tyranids toward rich feeding grounds. Then as the tyrandis approach the system, the hive mind takes control of the cult and causes a mass uprising which is usually crushed but causes enough confusion and disruption that it weakens the planetary defenders so the tyranids don't face too much resistance.

I've seen a couple pretty cool counts-as Genestealer Cult armies And you could probably make a pretty good go of it with just the tyranid book. Swarmlord as the Patriarch, Zoanthropes as Cult Magi (taking a bit of creative liscence here as there's only supposed to be one Magus per Cult), Termagaunts as Brood Brothers, biovores as brood brother motar teams, Tervigons as some kind of ramshackle tank with an unknow transport capacity that guys just keep getting out of, etc., etc., etc.

Genestealer cult armies is what I expect, if at all, we will get from a supplement to codex Tyranids, or pissibly a digidex after codex IG comes out.

You could use regular infantry/cultists as brood brothers and count them as termagants (that way you can get shooting attacks). You'll still need to do something about synapse (maybe kitbash some tyranid warrior models to look like giant genestealers), but I think most people would be cool with a themed army like that.

You can write your own special scenario to allow it and play friends. It'd never fly at a major event though.
