Heya all! Me and a mate not-so-recently started playing Infinity and I thought I'd just share our batreps here on Dakka dakka

http://warhammermajq.blogspot.se/2013/11/first-two-games-of-infinity.html

These two aren't that text heavy, as I wrote it long after we had played it, but there's some pics and thoughts about the game

http://warhammermajq.blogspot.se/2013/11/another-set-of-2-infinity-games.html

Another set of two battles. I will write in more detail on the future batreps, I promise

(edited to add all four batreps and explain some stuff)

Cool, there's not a huge amount of infinity batreps up here.

I see by the end of your 4th game you were getting the hang of fighting drop troops. In my case when I started I was the guy dropping AD3 troops (nomads) against my opponent (Haqq). At first they minced, but now I actually struggle to find a place to put them as he has most of the area covered. Hence I'm starting to use AD2 instead as most of the time I have to go so close to the board edge I'd rather not bother worrying about scattering. However there are a few advantages to having a guy in reserves. When I got a spektr I swapped him with the hellcat. Opponent expected a drop troop, but instead he got a TO camo infiltrator. That was a laugh. So now with a few reserve options floating around it keeps him on his toes a bit.

Looking at the battlefield in your first game, I would suggest having more terrain. There are a lot of open fire lines and thats why things like HMGs/snipers were probably dominating so much. So in the active turn, you end up boxing behind the few pieces of terrain as venturing out means a likely death to multiple AROs. (You may well have added more in later, but cant tell).

I would post up my batreps but I have a dirty secret...

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

The thing your board is missing in particular is scatter terrain. Lots of LOS blocking buildings is great but you want to move too, and infinity is so lethal that you don't want to be out of cover. That -3 to hit and +3 ARM help!

I'd suggest things like crates, rocks, bins, signs, etc. stuff that doesn't block LOS but confers cover advantages. Have enough so there's no more than 8" between any type of cover, and you'll see your games get a lot less static.

rahxephon: Yeah, in the begining I was like 'how the heck can I deal with these units?'
after a few matches I quickly learned how to deploy my troops in a way that covers all angles and makes them cover each other. the infiltrating scout is great too, blocking off paths with mines!

-Loki- Yeah this was something we noticed, we started making "chest high walls" and other smaller terrain pieces to litter the board with. Otherwise its just stick to the corner of a house and moving away from it means death.

I saw you used a large blast template for suppression. You know suppression is only 2" wide, and a cone of fire? Not that it matters a lot, in my first game we didn't know you could only link troops from the same unit, so it ended up with him moving a Teuton around supported by two Fusiliers.

Also Vet Kazaks have NWI not dogged, that means he has two wounds so when he gets his first wound he does not die until he gets a second wound. A major reason why Vet Kazaks are boss.

yeah, we printed out all the markers recently. 2" seemed really narrow imo

Oh did not know that. Vet Kazaks just became even more badass in my book now!

It's meant to be a narrow line.

It's focussing fire on one small area in order to prevent the enemy from going there - or if he does, to make it hurt lots.

Suppressive fire with a 5" circle. Yeah, that's broken.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Not only suppress the area being shot at - but also the fact that bullets are being fired, so anyone who walks through the suppression line gets hit as well.

Personally I haven't ever gotten into a situation where it's beneficial to use suppression fire, though I assume it's one of those things that gets better in objective games.

haha yeah, the large blast was way overkill really, but as you can see in the picture, he's really just supressing the opening in the ruin anyway ^^

How do you guys get mileage out of the kazak? My main opponent is ariadna and I always decimate this guy, NWI or not.

hm, mostly as a bit tougher trooper with some nice weaponry, the AP HMG is really nice. I play my Ariadna rather defensively and I find they work pretty good in this regard.

altough I feel my PanO enemy's troops are way better overall, I can't help but love my vet. kazaks!

They are boss, the shock immunity gives them extra protection and they have good a BS. Their best thing in my opinion is the 4-4 move. That helps them get around lend supporting fire better than most HI of the other factions.
