Drop pod assault Turn 1. Hopefully close to something that is valuable.
Deathwing Assault Turn 2. Hopefully there will be teleport beacons surviving to aid deep striking.
Six scoring units.

With the Libby manning the Icarrus, I don't see much point in the PP. The Extra Armour also seems like a waste of points (Dozer is more useful and cheaper, but still dependent on how much terrain you drive through with the Whirly).

Those points could either be spent on extra bodies, or on TH/SS upgrades in the terminator units, or an Infravisor for the Libby (makes two surprise lascannon shots in the first turn if Night Fighting).

Whirlwinds are good, but it is worth it to take a storm bolter. 5 points for weapon destroyed insurance. Second no extra armor, cause shaken or stunned, your not shooting the launcher.

Why the power swords on the ravenwing sarges? Could just get more bikes or something.

I would have one of the tacticals man the Icarus, as they have the same BS as the Libby.

As far as the Whirlwind, would taking the SB be for after the launcher is gone, to have something to fire? Launchers can't fire snapshots? I can fix that.

I agonized over the Power Swords on the biker sergeants. I wanted them to have AP3 over AP- for close work. It is 30pts for two though.

Thanks for the replies.

Without a storm bolter, the first weapon destroyed result your whirlwind suffers will render it near worthless. The stormbolter gives you a 50/50 shot to prevent a weapon destroyed, meaning the result may just take it out and leave the missile launcher. Alternatively, if you lose the launcher you at least have something. It also comes into play if something gets close to your whirlwind and you have no good targets for the missiles. It is a longshot, but it is so cheap if it kills basically anything it paid for itself.

RW attack squads are not really suited for close combat. They can do it in a pinch, but your really forcing saves with hammer of wrath and extra charge attacks. You could take combi weapons on the sarges to get the extra plasma/melta shot, respectively, and save some points. Charging is a last ditch effort, to finish off a squad or tie something up.

I like the idea, its a fluffy kinda army, but its going to run into a lot of problems. Azeareal and his squad will get blown off the board after they come in, especially if they come in on there own. Thats a warlord point for your enemy and a lot of points. A 4 up invunerable is strong, but the sheer number of wounds a good list can throw at you at the point lvl your playing at, will most likely be able to decimate or table the squad.

Same problem with your termies, with only a 5 up invul, unless your taking storm shields, they will show up do a meh amount of shooting then get shot to death.

Also I like the whirlwind its a strong unit but it doesn't need the dozer blade and extra armor. Also if the libby is manning the quad gun you don't need the plasma pistol, and if your bringing and agies defense line you don't need the power field generator.

Sadly the only way I see azerial played is with imperial guard or the three land raid crusader and banner of devastation list. Both are pretty darn good though lol.

I hope some of this helps!

Good luck!

Its been over a year since I have played. Did not recall that weapon destroyed results are now randomized.

I'll fix the bikers.

I realize the list isn't tournament worthy (everyone has eldar for that lol) - DA are for fun.

The ADL gives the back unit 3+ cover, and the PFG gives them 4++ as so much ignores cover saves these days. Still excessive?

Thanks for the replies!

I'm fairly sure that for the vets you can only take 2 special weps. Try combis, and I wasn't aware they could take a apothecary unless you meant a command squad in which case you may be okay. I don't have my dex on hand so I can't tell ya.

A good soldier obeys without question. A good officer commands without doubt.
