So i bought the data slate for cypher and I'd like to use him. I would prefer If I could do it via army builder and not have to write out a list long hand. Anyone know how to access him via Army builder?

It is possible, as I have seen someone do it before via the formation slot. This however was before I was interested in the character and I am no longer in contact with this person. So I know you can, as I have seen it. Thank you to anyone who can explain how this is done.

I had to do this for Be'lakor to use him in Army Builder. It doesn't get the special rules for him printed, but a print-out of the dataslate works for that. Use the "Generic Unit" option (You have to enable it in the Roster Rules section). Then select the "General Unit" Army list entry, you'll be able to set points for Cypher, and indicate him as an HQ Slot to satisfy FOC.

This is just a work around till AB gets to the Dataslates and Formations. It may take some time, as it requires a whole new section of code, like when Allies was added to it. I'm sure they will get to it soon.

Thank you very much. I can just edit unit notes to add the special rules but thats exactly what I wanted. I don't know why I have to wade through opinions when I ask a simple how to question but thanks for taking the time to explain it.

No prob. I know a little bit about how it works, even modded the file to give my Slaanesh Jump Lord a Doom Siren, which is an option in the Emperor's Children Formation. My friends think it's a cool idea since I mostly run a Slaanesh Army.

Is there a way to edit his weapons and stats on the generic unit? Is ther also a similar way to add "generic" weapons?

Not without modifying the data files themselves, unfortunately. The Generic Unit is just there to match FOC and points cost, and that's it. If you modify the data files to include a profile, it will just be erased when the next official release comes out. As I said, it's just a workaround. If you are going to tournaments with Cypher, I highly recommend printing from the ebook the 2 pages of rules for him, as your opponent will need to be able to read it anyways.
