Are they considered a competitive choice? How is the best way to run them? Are they a better escort unit for vect? Or are wyches a better escort for him?

Rather than going through a thread for every unit in the Codex, you might want to seek out a unit guide. Plastikente wrote a great one over on the Dark City forums. That might save you some time. It's very informative. I've found it to be quite useful in assembling an army.

I like em' personally, with a Haemonculus and a Raider they can be quite mean if they make contact with an enemy unit.

I'd only used to them to go totally MSU in a venom spam list.

Saves some points if I want to bring Vect and his pimping ride as well...
