Am I correct in reading that the BRB never defines what counts as far as a model in area terrain? Like how much it has to be.

The BRB uses the term "within" to define when a model is in area terrain. If the slightest sliver of the base/hull of the model is on the base of the terrain the model is considered in area terrain. This is different to the terminology "wholly within", which is distinct term that requires the entirety of the model's base/hull to be within the area/distance.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Is that an interpretation or is that the actual way it works? Cause when I looked on page 91 it didn't define what counts as in or not.

I do ask no one misunderstand my intent. I understands what the words mean, but the context of the rules I was wondering if this is an area where clarification could be allowed. I'm actually looking at playtesting different rules and ideas for a tournament, but I don't want to change any rules, or as few as possible. Instead I want to work within the rules and perhaps clarify where it is written less the well.

I recommend reading Measuring Distances on page 4.

Hm, that seems to be what I'm looking for. Guess I cannot get around toeing into terrain.

Sure you can.

Use less "area" terrain, and use more "true line of sight terrain".

People use a lot of area terrain because its easier, when in reality very few terrain types should be "area".

That does fix the problem really. Minimizes, but not fixes. I still appreciate the effort.

Maybe they use a lot of area terrain simply because those are the pieces of terrain they own/the store owns. The fact that area terrain is so pervasive in GW kits, with craters, forests and based ruins everywhere, would be a contributing factor.

Not to overlook that it is also the easiest terrain to create, technically all you need is a piece of string....

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

*makes a wobbly circle out of string* That's a swamp.
*puts a small plastic plate down* That's a crater.
*places a bit of styrofoam with sprues sticking out of the stop" That's a forest.
*Puts cat on the table* That's a Hierophant Bio-Titan.
*Kitty knocks over some Orks* That's a stomp attack.

Don't knock kitty-titans. They're one of (if not the) most powerful gargantuan creatures ever.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Which is why friends of ours called one of their cats "Titan", so he could be a Titan Titan....
