So if the Necrons are not organic matter why do the 'Nids have a problem with em? Is it because they use them like iron supplements or something?

As mentioned in another thread, Nids and Necrons (and Daemons, too) are "rival predators". Nids will avoid Necron Tomb Worlds because they can't eat them, but the two share the same prey (humans. At least for the Necrons who hope to one day restore themselves to bio-bodies) and thus come into conflict from that.

Because Necrons don't take kindly to people eating their planets.

Although Tyranids can harvest inorganic minerals, necrons are the exception because they are made from necrodermis, a material Tyranids cannot digest.

And yet, I believe from a previous thread on this same old subject, there should be an old codex entry in the Necron books about an entire tomb world or dynasty devoured while they slept, by the Tyranids.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Yes, they ate the worlds they were on not the actual necrons. The process tyranids use to harvest all usable materials on a world destroys the world (to a point)

In some of the fluff on Necrons, Tyranids went far out of their way to avoid an entire Dyson Sphere style system. If I remember correctly, it was Necron and there was something in there they did not want to mess with. It was left open that it might have been one of the full, undestroyed C'tan.

Well, that piece of fluff hails from the time when there were four undestroyed C'tan, and that has been retconned - the others included the Nightbringer and the Deciever, which have been retconned as having been sharded, ridiculous as that is.

I feel like one of the peasants in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, sometimes when it comes to GW fluff.
