I have a question about Jump/Jet Pack moves onto building/ruins.

When I go to make my jump/jet pack move on top or over buildings this is how I've been doing it: I measure the distance laterally then move that distance without taking in account the height of buildings or ruins. For example: My Wraithknight is 3 inches from a 3 story building. I move 12" and place him on top of the building. I don't take into account the height of the building or the amount of stories in it. Is this correct?

You'll have to excuse my friend he's kind of dim some times... Well, all the time I guess.

The argument is this:
When he moves his tau battle suits a total of 6 inches laterally, he thinks he is able to move them to any level in a ruin (we play with ruins varying from 2-4 levels high). But in the rule book under ruins it talks about jet pack units specifically. It says that jet pack models are placed WITHIN SIX INCHES of their starting point. So RAW says this includes up, down and sideways.

Jump infantry/MCs isn't as big of an issue because they aren't used as much but the arguments still stands for them as well. The rule book says that they can move 12" from their starting point to anywhere, does this mean they can move up 4 flights of stairs and THEN over 12" if the piece of terrain is big enough?

That way,then left

6" from your starting point. You don't get to move up and down floors for "free"

Indeed, it is the actual start and end position of the base that is used.
