Euran Union forces links:
1st airborne: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/580292.page
3rd Infantry (balanced): http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/579008.page

I all, this is the 3rd installment of my Euran Union army, which is planned to have a 1rst airborne, 2nd armored, 3rd infantry and 4th mechanised divisions. Basically, the concept is to have an airborne force of flyers and stormtroopers, an armored force of Leman russ tanks, an infantry division of 2 bastions, 2 mechs, 2 flyers, 2 artilleries and proper troops, and a classic mech vets list.

here is a short draft of the 2nd armored. Now, I really can't tell how tu properly tune that kind of army tabletop-wise, but i want as many Leman russ tanks as possibles, thats the only constraint.

EURAN UNION 2ND ARMORED DIVISION (HAMMER’S FURY)
Official Motto: The enemy as travelled from far to meet our guns, lets meat them
Unofficial Motto: Call my wife and tell her she has to come clean this mess after I’ve reduced them to dust
Commanders: Captain John “Crushem” Hammer, lieutenant Michaels
Mostly tanks
Known weakness: lack of troops, difficult to squeeze anti-air, horde armies, costly tank units.

HQS
CCS-50 points
CCS-50 points

Troops
3 x vets, autocannons , 240 points
3x vets chimera, HF, 375 points

Heavy
2x Executioner w/LC and Plasma sponsons 490 points
Squadron 2 x demolishers w/LC 360 points
2 x battle tanks, w/LC 330 points
Squadron 2x Hydra flak 150 points

Total 2045 Points (45 points over)

Now, I need to cut off points. One major element I need to know is whether tank upgrades are worth it or not in 6th ed. I also have to field those tanks in squadrons to have 6 squads which is allowed with the double FOC, which means I need 2 HQS and 4 troops. Should I mech those vets and go with fewer? (4 instead of 6). Should I drop tank upgrades and get more bigguns for my infantry?, etc.

I guess I could also live with having only 4 tanks in my lists, but I'd rather not have any less than that to keep it to an armored feeling list.

Thanks all in advance.

I recommend you take a look at the Armored Battle Group rules in Imperial Armor Imperial Guard Second edition. Leman russ squadrons count towards troops and you can take armored fist and armored fist vet squads to score objectives. You can also have a command tank that can issue orders. There are also a ton of options unique to the book like autocannon on chimeras and illumination rounds.

As far as what you have here I think your plasmacutioners will survive longer without the plasmagun sponsions. They always get hot on me and blow up my tanks. They are a blast to use like that though, I may just be really bad at rolling.

Fantasy: Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen, Daemons
40k: Daemon Hunters (GK,MT allied), Tallarn Armored Battle Group, Night Lords.
Firestorm Armada/Firestorm Planetfall: Dindrenzi

This would be quite interesting indeed, however, I don't feel that's something many opponents would want to fight against as it seems a bit OP?

I've recently moved so I don't know yet what kind of rules local tournaments allow. an armored battle group would sure be a blast to play.

Do people generally accept to fight such armies?

I would definitely test the waters first. Being forgeworld rules its up to the TO, but there really isnt any cheese outside of whats already in the guard dex. It does sound OP with the thought of having possibly 10+ russes in a FOC but they are still they are still the same amount of points and cannot score. The armored fist squads cannot blob so it makes them really precious on the table. Vehicles are pretty vulnerable this edition as well.

You can ally it with the guard dex so perhaps once you get comfortable in your new group, ask to bring it as an ally to see how they react. My group has been really supportive of it.

On the topic of your provided list, if you drop those plasma cannon sposions you will free up 80pts. Grab another chimera and you will have 25 points to kit out your vets or CCS. Or if you chose to not take the 4th chimera invest in a master of the fleet and an astropath to really gain control of your reserves.

Drop the lascannons on the demolishers, they will only be useful turn one if the main gun isnt in range of the enemy.

Get special weapons on the vets in the chimeras.

Drop 2 of the vets with autocannons to get the points if needed.
