I post for a friend here (he does not have access to the site when at work...)
For an upcoming tournament he is going to play pure TAU (1850pts).
The tournament should be quite competitive (for French environment)

for pure tau you need to take commander pointsynch (TM): commander command and control node puretide chip and MSSS and iridium armour. I would change the kroot into 4 units of ten as well I would drop the piranha as it will give away first blood every game. also FnP is unnecessary on all 3 riptides

pathfinders are one of those units that look great on paper but die really easily in the game. would he consider using the farsight supplement as allies.

No he does not have the Farsight supplement unfortunately.
Pathfinders i kindda agree, but then he still has his 2 skyray for ML support.

The commander i mentionned it to him but as he does not have Ovesa it is less necessary (to attach it to a single Riptide is not necessayr given the number of ML, and for the broadside he was not really impressed with it).
