Yo.
So, I haven't played since fifth edition, and was wondering: is this list is still viable?
HQ - 90pts
Company command squad
Grenadiers
4x sniper rifles
Troop 1 - 185pts
Veteran squad
Grenadiers
3x melta
Chimera, multi-laser/heavy bolter
Troop 2 - 185pts
Veteran squad
Grenadiers
3x melta
Chimera, multi-laser/heavy bolter
Troop 3 - 185pts
Veteran squad
Grenadiers
3x melta
Chimera, multi-laser/heavy bolter
Elite
Storm troopers x10
2x plasma
Chimera, multi-laser/heavy bolter
Fast Attack
Scout sentinels x3, multi-lasers
Total: 1000 pts.
Main plan is to move up, sticking to cover when possible and deploying smoke as needed. Melta mech vets will take out heavier armor when close enough to do so. Chimeras will focus fire their multi lasers on light armor and infantry.
Sentinels will outflank and pop transports from behind, or if none are available, take out long range fire support. If they survive long enough, I'll have them contest objectives on the enemy's side of the table.
Storm troopers will advance in their Chimera, seeking out hard targets to focus fire on (mc's, hq's, etc.)
HQ will advance in cover within range of the middle objectives, and take pot shots at any enemy infantry trying to claim them.
My opponents and I have a rule that we don't tell each other what unit is in which transport, so my units will stay embarked as long as possible, only disembarking to secure objectives endgame.
We also try and keep our lists somewhat fluff related, hence the lack of heavy support, the high level of mobility, and the proliferation of carapace armor.
C&C welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Only thing id say is up the sentinels to autocannon's but that's a personal preference really. Sounds like a solid plan. Only thing you missing is AA. but if your local area doesn't use aircraft your sorted.

Thanks for the input!
My main opponents have very few flyers, and don't really like fielding them. I think overall, we all just like the appeal of an out-and-out in your face ground war.
I've run autocannons before, and really have no issue with them, but I like the extra shot that the multi-laser provides over the slightly higher strength. Mainly my opponents run space marines, and since either one is a 2+ to wound and has no instant wound/death ability against them, I prefer the extra shot.

This list seems top notch, and if you don't face any fliers, then keep the multilasers - however I would prefer autocannons regardless, but I just like them. Only thing I would change, is switching out the melta vets' chimeras with heavy flamers instead so you can combat horde more efficiently, so all of your bases are covered. If you prefer the heavy bolter simply for the range, I understand your reasoning, I just prefer the flamers. But overall this list is definitely still a viable and effective list, especially at this point level.

Grenadiers are there for fluff purposes, and I don't have a vendetta. Not really planning on buying one any time soon either, simply because they cost money that I don't really have. Automatically Appended Next Post: And I may just do the heavy bolter to heavy flamer swap.

Heavy flamers on the chimeras are great for horde control.
