Hey guys, on the weekend I picked up two more boxes of terminators, bringing my total to 20. I'm also saving up to get a reasonably coated DV termie set, am I crazy?

Nope. Run either a huge Deathwing list, or convert them into Grey Knights. I love terminators. I've got somewhere between twenty and thirty myself.

What armor are they, standard? Not only could they be used for Deathwing, but if you ever play Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus HH, with Horus as your Lord of War, you can take Terminators as troops.

Not at all, I am rolling 20 of em with 10 more to be made with my Grimnar SW list.

It's fine... I think I have... maybe 2 or 3 hundred... different codecies and chaos gods make for lots of termies

My Dark Angels collection is divided between two army cases. One is just general DA stuff--Power Armour guys, Scouts, Land Speeders, rhino chassis tanks, dreadnoughts, and the like. The other case is filled with terminators. Just terminators.

All of them are general marine sfor my custom chapter. After these next five thoe I'm gonna get a box and some chaos helmets to start the hounds of loken.

I have 38 plus a Chaplin, a Librarian and Belial, and I want to add 10 Death Wing knights.

28 here, but they are all old metal ones.

20 is defiantly not too many. That’s just a full squad of each type, with no extra, no characters. You could potentially put them all down in a reasonable sized game; A fun 1st & 10th list.

Once you get closer to 50 you can start to worry.

Shrouded, you do realise that Terminators aren't complete crap, right? They're just not as great as they once were, they're just overpriced now.

um... not really i have 21 mega Nobs... plus 3 converted to oblis and about 30 termis...

that's what nearly 20 years of gaming dose to you...

I have 20 BA terminators, and all 20 are now completely dust covered. I thought 20 was an excessive amount, because I can't imagine fielding more than 5. Or even any.

Imperial Space Marines (Imperial Paladins, Deathwing) - 29

I got 5 aobr terminators, cobbled together 5 from the legs on the da accessory sprue plus reconditioned chaos chests and spare part, then ordered at least 3 sets from dark vengennce. Its either way too many, or not enough (especially considering the number is divisible by 5.. either 0 or 5 chars or I'm wasting models).

Still considering painting them all up for fun to make a playable (probably weak) 40k list just in case I ever get the chance to play. Low model count ftw in terms of painting, set up, and transport.

How does one employ mostly/ all terminators these days? Are dw still mediocre but vaguely playable? Or would I best served by something in the new codex (possibly as an ally to aforementioned DW)?

Try 10x TH/SS Terminators with Librarian, Corbulo and an Allied Xenos Inquisitor with Liber Heresius, Psyker, Rad and Psychotroke Grendades

or 10x Tactical Terminators (AC or CML) with Librarian, Corbulo; Allied Malleus Inquisitor with Liber Heresius, Psyker, TDA, Psycannon, Servo Skulls

It certainly isn't at the cutting edge of 40k, but it is fun

I only have 16 terminators, nothing special. A question for those of you fielding all there terminators, what do you do with tactical terminators? I can't figure out a use for them

I have about 50, compromising half of my Homebrew Chapter's 1st company.

A while ago I took a lot of them, but not all of them (at this point I had closer to 40 actually) to a 5k points apocalypse game using the old Deathkneel formation. It was pretty mental.



Note that this was after I had finished purging about 30~ Ork Boys in the vicinity of the drop site.

So I guess DarkStarSabre is the only one in here so far who isn't a total n00b

5 Man, Assault Cannon, one chainfist. I use them as a generic troubleshooter unit. Sometimes they wander across the table, other times deepstriking; it all depends on what the table/opponent looks like.

Sure, there are something that will just evaporate 2+ armor saves. And other things that can’t. But there’s almost nothing that enjoys a squad of vets working them over with powerfists. And the shooting might be underwhelming for the points, but it’s consistent at a reasonable range.

The chainfist is like a melta bomb. Most games you don’t need it, but when you do it will RIP open a tank/building.

All I kept when I sold my 40k stuff in '93 was that old-school box of termies. It was only half-full, and I've not used them since, but it kickstarted me back into SM years later.
Add 2 squads of AoBR termies, that's almost what you have.

The option is by viewing the full site, rather than the mobile version - but, for sake of completeness - £14 a squad + postage - all unpainted and generally off the sprues. No bases though (I had Rippers demanding bases!)

And yes, the Terminators have build up over time.

The Chaos ones were largely because of the fact I'm going to end up with a complete traitor chapter sooner or later - I already have the entire 3rd company for it, half the 4th company and about 75 of the 1st Company...may as well just keep on trucking.

Though they're long abandoned til we get a Chaos Codex that isn't a joke (dear GW, I do not feel the urge to field 3 Heldrakes and 9 obliterators, nor do I have the required funds to go out and purchase just those. Ugh.)

I have several hundred from all the different styles.
My favorites are the old plastic "egyptian" style ones.
Most I've used at once was just under 200 in an appoc game, full 1st company with Lysander, and 8 Landraider Wrath of Mars.
I have used up about 50+ of the old small sized metal ones by cutting them up to make artificer armour for my 'Scars HQ's, Honour Guard and jetbikers.
All bought second hand, mostly ebay.
I seldom use terminators now as I've settled into playing 'Scars over the last 5 or so years, only if I'm playing a big apoc game then my Iron Hands, Salamanders and UIltramarines come out of the shed.
