I've been playing around with ally plugins a bit and came up with this for Space Marines. Any suggestions on Chapter Tactics?
HQ 75pts
Librarian, Combi Melta
Troops 125pts
4 Tactical Marines, Melta, Sergeant, Combi Melta
Drop Pod
Elites 365 pts
9 Sternguard, 7 Combi Melta, 2 Melta, Sergeant, Combi Melta
Drop Pod
565 pts

You need a second troop choice for the list to be legal.
Iron hands give you resilience, ultramarines better first strike and white scars help you leave combat

ally's only need one troop choice. with all the melta and flamer I'd say Salamanders.

Probably the best well rounder for a list like that would be ultra smurfs.

Hmm... Depending on who you're allying to and what you're going for, Space Wolves might serve you better. We get combi-weapon veterans for way cheaper, our TACs can get 2 specialist weapons that you can use more than once, and our Librarians get Divination.
A similar list might be something like this:
Rune Priest - Combi Weapon: 110 Points
Wolf Guard - 9 Models, 9 Combi-Weapons, Drop Pod: 242 Points
Grey Hunters - 10 Models, 2 Meltaguns, Drop Pod: 190 Points
Total: 542 Points
It's every-so-slightly cheaper, you get a re-usable special weapon instead of a comb-weapon in your very excellent TAC squad, and you get 5 more bodies. (Oh, and you either get Divination or Jaws of the World Wolf, and a Rune Staff instead of a Psychic Hood.) What you lose is the special issue ammo on the Boltguns, though, so it's a toss-up. I personally would go for the better/more numerous TACs and far better psychic powers, though.

That's not a bad idea at all!
I could also split hat grey hunter unit in two and buy a third drop pod so two come down turn 1.
Only problem is I don't think Wolf Guard can combat squad can they? Which is a big plus of the Sternguard.

Unfortunately no, Wolf Guard cannot Combat squad. (No Space Wolves can.)
