I actually posted a similar list back when FoW 2nd edition came out, but real life then prevented me from having any gaming money or time. Since that seems on path to be resolved, I thought I'd try again with a FoW 3rd Edition list. As before, it's inspired by D Company, 2nd Ox & Bucks LI, the first British Troops to land on D-Day, and so it's infantry heavy. I will eventually add units that aren't so inspired, mostly for variety in painting (I'm thinking a Tetrarch Platoon and at least one Recce Platoon), but here's the list:

HEADQUARTERS PLATOON
Airlanding Company HQ (CinC SMG, 2ic SMG, PIAT) 80

COMBAT PLATOONS
Airlanding Platoon (Command Rifle/MG, PIAT, Light Mortar, 5 x Rifle/MG) 220
Airlanding Platoon (Command Rifle/MG, PIAT, Light Mortar, 5 x Rifle/MG) 220
Airlanding Platoon (Command Rifle/MG, PIAT, Light Mortar, 5 x Rifle/MG) 220

WEAPON PLATOONS
Airlanding Pioneer Platoon (Command Pioneer Rifle, 3 x Pioneer Rifle) 100
Airlanding Machine-gun Platoon (Command Rifle, 4 x Vickers HMG) 160
Airlanding Anti-tank Platoon (Command Rifle, 3 x OQF 6 pdr gun [late]) 120

SUPPORT PLATOONS
Airlanding Platoon, Royal Engineers (Command Pioneer Rifle/MG, PIAT, Light Mortar, 6 x Pioneer Rifle/MG) 260
Airlanding Light Battery, Royal Artillery (Independent Command Rifle, Independent Staff, Command Rifle, Observer Rifle, 4 x M1A1 75mm pack howitzer) 150
Air Support (Priority Typhoon) 220

HEADQUARTERS: 80
COMBAT: 660
WEAPONS: 380
SUPPORT: 630
TOTAL ;1750

8 Platoons, all Fearless Veterans

You have 4 big infantry platoons which is probably too many IMHO. Drop one for more AT ideally 6 or 17pdrs. You may also find 25pdrs more useful than howitzers but YMMV. Also get some recce it'll help

The whole point of the list is to be infantry heavy though. And yes, I do intend to purchase some recce and Tetrarchs as I mentioned. Probably a bit more anti-tank too, rather than praying on the PIATs.

Need 17lb'ers someway or somehow. Those 6lb'ers will do good with the new AP rules that they got in the market garden but if something bigger than a Panther heads your way your in trouble. I play a very similar Brit airborne list and faced a list that had 2 Jagdtigers once andin another game I ran into a list with 2 King Tigers that mauled me.

That light artillery battery will not make its points back and lacks punch plus I do not think the double pioneer platoons are worth it. Finally don't count on your Typhoons on being you main tank killing element. Air power is unpredictable and fickle plus almost every list, especially German is going to field a good amount of AAA.

I do agree with the 3 full sized platoons supported by MG's. In a defensive battle it will be a tough nut to crack especially supported by a pioneer platoon. If you want recce go for jeeps, the Tetrarchs are worthless IMHO. Something else to think about if you want some indirect fire are mortars. As veterans they can lay down some good supporting fire as well as smoke.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.
