I haven´t touched my figures since we got 6th edition, so with a newly brought tau codex did I see that a lot had changed (sniffle I will miss my broadsides). So taking a look at my old figures and the book once again have I come up with this little list, it being mostly built on what there worked for me in the last edition. So does this hold water or do i need to get a whole new view on how to play my blue anime fishs? So with 1000 points spot on comes my list

Rail Rifle son Pathfinders are a bleh. Most of the time you'll just want to fire markerlights.

Hey!
I'm not a Tau player, I just get beat by them all the time... oh well, I lost to a 1000 point list that looked very much like this, just without pathfinders, and some more Fire Warriors. Back to the point, I played a Tyranid horde army, with tons of Gaunts (the small standard ones ) he started by shooting my Tervigon to bits in 2nd turn just with his 2 units of Fire Warriors. (was also cause to my bad rolling and his good rolling,) Tervigon wasn't even across the table at that point. My point is, this is a good list against Orks, Tyranids and Imperial Guard.

Any suggestions to what I should add instead?

Straight Markerlights. I wouldn't take RailRifles if they were free.

Defiantly drop the rail rifles for more marker lights. I haven't used the Kroot but I think 24" sniper rifles are kinda meh, I would cut them for more pathfinders.
I would then arrange them to be three small teams. That way you can mark 3 units a turn.

In case you aren't already aware, crisis suits can now take two of the same weapon, so you might want to take that into account.

I like to run a suit unit with 2 plasmas each.

That... that did I not know, and is now something that I need to think about when I make the next revision of the army list.

And with how all are saying that rail rifles ain´t worth the points would that open up for some new possibilities. And the person that mention two smaller units are right, that would be the best solution can I see now

I would exchange your Shield Drones for Gun Drones. They can still take the wounds for you but also add a pair of TL Pulse Carbines (yeah WS2 but more dakka). Helps with Tarpits.

If you plan for your troops to go anywhere get a devilfish for them. Yes they are expensive but they are much needed protection.

The drones are not there to take the wounds as such, but more the inv saves that they give. Sure it would be smarter to buy some other drones in a way, but as I see it do I have rather much dakka for 1k games already. So for me is it better to keep them alive longer and save them from instant death instead of take some twin linked pea shooters. Maybe will I try some gundrones out later on, but on the initial run of this list will my well used shield drones stay.

And for the devilfish... sorry but I have never seen how I should make one work. My FW can´t shoot from it, they need a full turn to get out and do something and my experiences tells me that it is hard enough to keep a hammerhead alive, so the weaker armor are going to be hell. Maybe does it work for others, but with my playstyle can I simply not see me use a bus like that
