Hi guys!
I'm making my fourth death star army. (It went Assault Terminators, Purifiers, Farsight bomb, and now it's Blood Crushers!)
For once, I'm trying to make an army that isn't completely stupidly overpowered. With that in mind, I'm taking 8 Khorne Heralds - including karanak and Skulltaker. Now you must be asking "how the feth is that not stupidly overpowered?" Short answer is, I have 400 points to play around with after I've made a sixteen man crusher star. Throw in 32 Blood letters (multiples of 8, mind!) and you have a recipe for doing very little to anything that can kite your range. We'll ignore the lack of an armour save and the lack of fateweaver to make Warp storms less painful and grimoire successful. Oh, and T4.
Anyway, on with the show:
I love bloodcrusher miniatures, but I can't get over the fact that they aren't quite suitably different to make khorne heralds. Blood Crushers have about 5 different builds and they're pretty much preset, making doing anything special with them sorely difficult.
Then I thought "hey don't warriors of chaos get a similar unit", so I looked and found these:
I'm planning on painting up 6 of them to use as my heralds of Khorne - They're good because I can represent Axes of Khorne with the Axes in the kit, Greater Etherblades and/or hellblades with those beautiful spears that come in the kit! (magnetising them, of course)
Now, obviously these will be counts-as. My big question is, would anyone be upset if I used these models over proper bloodcrushers? I felt they'd be suitably different to chaos space marines so player's wouldn't get confused by that, and if I paint them with faces instead of helmets, I can replace the faces with khorne bloodletter heads.
So, what do people think?
Also, if you're interested in what these bad boys will look like, this is the test model for the paint scheme I'm going with.
