Hey people. I've collected a lot of gubbins and loads of dakka over the years, and I want to put them to use on my new Ork army.
I want to scratch build some Killa Kans, but I dont have one to reference.
Are the ones in the latest Ork Codex about to scale? They have one standing next to a Dredd on page 78. If so, than a pill bottle would be a great starting point.

Any thoughts? Ideas?

How big is the pill bottle? it should be just fine, I have seen people use shotgun shells, film canisters, and everything else imaginable to make kans.

Roughly 3,5 cm diameter, 4,5 cm height I'd guess. I can measure when I'm back home.

This is about right
I have a kan pack at home that I use literally as spares and parts to build other orky goodness. The body height is about 5cm. Ive seen people use:
  • Old style GW paint pots
  • camera film cans
  • Toilet roll tubes
  • Glue sticks

  • In reality so long as it has the right sized base you cant really go wrong for kans I say take your pill bottle and just go for it! You wont regret it, i could scratch build and convert allllll day with orks. They allow so much room for creativity without needing to bre rpecise in any manner

Cool, a film case and a cut down pill bottle will be perfect. Thanks all for your opinions

Yes, they don't even have to have legs - I've made grot tanks that were the right size (including base size) and weapons to count-as kanz. You could also do wheeled or hovering kanz - so long as they're cool conversions and you remember to explain that they count-as kanz before each game, no one's likely to complain.

When I was scratch building my Killa Kans, I used 3/4" PVC couplers for the body. They worked really nicely until I stalled out. You can get a 10-pack for ~$2.50 at Lowe's or Home Depot. Something to consider.

The above two suggestions are great ones
Infact, almost all plumbing pieces are great for orkiness!

Never thought of combining a kan with a grot tank?! great idea, I mean I often make my BW's able to become Looted wagons and trukks for versatility, will defo think bout that Kan grot tank idea.
