I was playing my mate and landed a blast over his Dark Eldar jetbikes. I thought the blast covered 4 but my mate said it only covers 2 since the blast was only covering the model, not the clear flying base, and so did not count.

Is this right? When working out hits from a blast marker on dark eldar jetbikes do you use the physical model or the little clear plastic flying base?

Why would you ignore the base? They aren't vehicles.

I think because the model is so huge compared the the base. Regular bikes have large oval bases that match the shape of the model. DE bikes have a tiny round one. Doesn't seem consistent.

RAW, you should use ONLY the base when determining hits from blasts and templates.

You ignore the model, not the base. Only the base counts.

To the OP: Just make sure your friend is also using Only the base for all Other purposes like unit coherency and weapon ranges.

Would this be the case with Skimmer bases as well? Like a blast would hit a skimmer only if the blast marker includes a part of the base? I'm not sure because vehicles are certainly different.

Skimmer bases are ignored for everything except charging or ramming.

Jetbikes and skimmers are very different, ruleswise.

The rules for skimmers specifically say everything is done from the hull of the tank and the base only matters for moving models around.
