I recently picked up Dark Vengeance and I've decided to have a go with commanding an army of Chaos Space Marines.
I made a small 1000 point list using all of the models form Dark Vengeance.

I also don't want to go out and spend a 'bomb' on models. I just want to pick up a few sets.

So here's the list, help would be much appreciated!

HQ
Chaos Lord
• Plasma Pistol

Troops
Chaos Space Marines (10x)

Troops
Chaos Cultists (x16)
• Heavy Stubber
• Autoguns (x14)
• Shotgun

Troops
Chaos Cultists (x14)
• Flamer
• Mark of Slanesh

Elites
Chosen (x6)
• Power Fist
• Pair of Lightning Claws
• Power Weapon (x2)
• Mark of Khorne (x6)

Dedicated Transport
Chaos Rhino

Elites
Helbrute
• Multi-melta
• Power Fist

Heavy Support
Obliterator (x3)
• Mark of Nurgle (x3)
• Veterans of Long War (x2)

Army Total = 999 pts

My Chaos Lord will make a charge from the very start to my enemy's most threatening unit, with his 6 Chosen in the Rhino. If all goes well and I make an assault I'll be getting 28 attacks, (thanks to the Mark of Khorne) coming power weapons, lighting claws and a power fist!

My Cultist will sit on objectives and eat my opponents bullets while my Chaos Space Marines get down to the killing. Or my Cultist could simply act as meat shields, but with 30 of them split up into two units, I'm likely to only ever loose just 1 point.

My Obliterators will deep strike behind enemy lines, but they may sit back and fire Lascannons follwed by Plasma Cannons depending on who I'm facing. These guys are also perfect for Big Guns Never Tire, with their Mark of Nurgle and Ld 9 they can take bullets and then give then dish them back out. This gives me 4 scoring units here!

I also have my Helbrute who will do damage, but it won't be such a heart ache if loose him.

So whatcha, think? I'm going for an all round army that has power in range and in close combat.

I think marking cultists are wasteful. Those points are better spent on special weapons for your CSM unit. I would even remove Mark of Khorne from the Chosen, get rid of 2 of their power weapons, and that should be enough to give a good weapon to your lord and make sure that the CSM unit has double special weapon (which is one of the advantages taking them as 10man squads)

If the Chosen have any mark, it should be Mark of Nurgle because once their hop out of their Rhino, they will be suffering serious firepower at the hands of enemies who want to keep them away, so it'd be good to have Toughness 5 when that happens since you can't avoid it and you will want as many Chosen in combat as possible since you are spending the points on them.

HELL. Or just England

First off, good luck commanding the armies of chaos! With the units you have their, I would advise making a few changes:

HQ Section
Either drop the plasma pistol (while cool, 1 strength 7 shot doesn't do a huge amount for 15 points) or find the points to either buy the Lord a Power Weapon (Sword or Axe springs to mind) or consider one of the chaos relics in the codex, any of them should work well for you! If you like Khorne, give the Lord a Mok and the Axe of Blind Fury

Troop Section
The CSM really need some special weapons here, id recommend at least a plasma gun. Consider using the fearless banner too, otherwise they could end up getting swept away.

The cultists arent bad, but you dont really need the heavy stubber, 3 S4 shots wont be a game changer for you. Id also drop the melee cultists, and add more to the autogun cultists. The melee cultists will just get sweeping advanced away.

Elites
Chosen are a little... meh, but can still pack a punch! I would add a havoc launcher to the rhino though.

Heavy Support
Obliterators are pretty sweet, what you could consider doing is putting them into individual units, this way its harder to wipe out all of them. Also, dont be fooled by the power fist and 2+ armour. These guys should be staying at the back of your field shooting, dont melee with them

Hoped that help man, good luck!

The Red Mist Legion- Renegade Chaos Space Marines
'Show those loyalist dogs that their masters send them to the slaughter!'
Iron Heads - Ork Warband
'Dat one put a dent in my iron hat humie!'
The Red Coats - Necromunda Gang
'A good kill Juve, but not worthy of a Red Coat yet'
The Masked Junkies - Necromunda Gang
'Fully automatic, a steel backed stock and more bullets then I know what to do with! Now thats a real gun.'
