I'm joining an escalation league, and need to build a competitive 800pt Necron list for the first month, but I'm having a hard time with it. My first instinct is to put together a resilient warrior blob army to build build upon, (350 pts are added to the list each month, for a total of 1850pts. Two units can be dropped at the beginning of each month). For at least the first month, I'm also working with a modified force org chart that limits any sort of spyder farm or flyer shenanigans.

My first list:

The idea with this list was to have a basic starting point to build upon, relying on the resiliency of 20 warriors backed up by a RO and Ghost Ark, with the Barge to shoot down any enemy fliers. Unfortunately, the playr I tested it against brought a DE venom spam list and swept the entire blob with 5 wytches, as I managed to lose combat by 1 due to unlucky rolls and managed boxcars on the LD check. I think the list is decent as a baseline for later on, but lacks mobility and the ability to effectively target fire more that a couple things per turn.

So frankly, I have no idea where to go with this. If you were to assume that I had any non-FW model, how would you make an all-comers list for this?

I'd probably drop something for another Annihilation barge and a Squad of Scarabs.

In 600pts I managed to get An Overlord with MSS and WS, 10 Warriors, 5 Immortals, 6 Scarabs and 2 AB. On top of that add your RO, more warriors, and the ghost ark or Crypteks.

Watch out for any strength D weapons, as Necrons don't get their Reanimation Protocols.

Ahh, when I say "Escalation league", I don't mean using lords of war. I mean that each month, points increase, and you have to add to your existing army. Although in the last month lords will be allowed, but I'll have the Transcendent C'tan, and all my problems will go away.
