I'm playing Tyranids, and need suggestions for a 1000 point army list. I dont have much money, so keep that in mind. Me play-style can adapt to pretty much anything, and I'd like to have atleast one monstrous creature (Because they look awesome.)
Right now I've got 12 Hormagaunts with Poison sacks (96 points), 12 Termagaunts with Fleshborers and Adrenal Glands (72 points), and a squad of unbuilt Genestealers that could have what ever Biomorphs. Where do you suggest I go from here, and use for the Genestealers?

You need a HQ so look at a Hive tyrant.
The swarm box might be a good way forward aswell.
I would yust give the stealers Rending claws and keep themm cheap.

Personally I buy Toxin for Stealers, for the re-rolls to get more Rending chances.... but other options exist....I just have not tried Scything talons yet...

For a cheap investment, a Tyranid Warriors box will allow you to build a Tyranid Prime, which can serve as a leader, and leave you with two more bodies to use for later on. They aren't as good as a Tyrant, but the cost is low.
If you can afford two boxes, you'll get a Prime and 5 Warriors, which will make for a nice unit of Troops who also give Synapse, which is always good. Lots of hate at Warriors in 5th ed, but in 6th, they're starting to look good.
After that, you can load up on small bugs via Ebay or Bartertown fairly easily: Termagants and Hormagaunts are everywhere.

I'll probably go with 1 box of warriors to start, and if I turn up short of points I'll buy another box.
Also have 4 ripper bases, 2 non-spine fist, 2 spinefist.

I second getting two boxes of Warriors. Make one a Prime, and the other 5 as either Troops, or (if you are good with converting), make them Shrikes so you have some fast moving Synapse if necessary. Automatically Appended Next Post: I would also recommend a Zoanthrope or 2 if you have the funds (not sure on cost off hand). That will provide some AT as well as extra Synapse.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Lots of people do it....so it Must be good! If you can swing it magnatising is real good for big bugs....so many options, and whats best often changes based on point totals and play style...
For a Big bug take a look at building a Tyranofex it is really good espesially at lower point games.

Alright, hows this list look? Its just over 1,000 points (At 1,038 points) but I'm sure thats not a problem
1 hive tyrant, With boneswords and A heavy venom cannon, Acid blood and possibly wings (If wings, they will be played is if they dont. Because wings look awesome), Old advesary, and the Norn Crown. Should I give it a torso morph? (270 points. Seems OK for an HQ)
1 Zoanthrope. These cant be modded. (50 points. That seems low.)
12 hormagaunts, Toxin sacs. (96 points)
12 termagaunts, Adrenal glands, 10 fleshborers 2 Deveourers.(80 points)
8 Genestealers, Rending claws and Poison sacks.(136 points)
4 rippers, Spinefists. (98 points)
3 warriors, 2 Deathspitter, lashwhip and bonesword, 1 venomcannon and Scything talon. (150 points)
1 tyranofex, Rupture cannon. Should I add biomorphs and Thorax morphs? (205 points)
Hows it look? Any changes I should make? Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, what the hell happened to Scything Talons? Didnt they use to be the best things ever, letting you re-roll all failed hits if you had two of them?

Scythes are now close cobat weapons. That's pretty much it. Pick up a rock and thump somebody upside the head, same thing. It's depressing. They should at least have AP 5, but, no, nada.
As for the rest, I'm, like, the Bishop of Bio-Apostasy - The fewer biomorphs that you can have the better. A Hormagaunt is a Toughness 3 model with a 6+ armorsave. They're going to die in *droves*. Giving them upgrades is, IMHO, a bad idea. I know I'm a lone voice in the wild on that one, but beyond that, anywhere you can trim itoff your models, you should. Acid Blood on the Tyrant, for instance, isn't needed. Adrenal Glands on the Termagants isn't needed (They should never be in melee!) Warriors don't need Boneswords as they're going to attract a lot of firepower... keep 'em cheap!
Cheap cheap cheap, enjoy the joy that is ablative wounds and try to stay away from the allure of upgrades ... models are going to die, and die a LOT. Better to make them as cheap as you can stomach so it won't hurt as bad.
(PS: Never take Rippers. It breaks my heart to say this, but they just have no place in today's Tyranid. And this from a guy who defends *pyrovores*!)

The Termagaunts having Adrenal glands was due to me having a fundemental misunderstanding of what Charging was. Probably gonna remove those. Hormagaunts are going to keep poison glands, because those seem useful. As for rippers, probably gonna keep because hey, I've got them. Acid blood I'll keep because its cheap and useful.

I'm glad you're losing Adrenals on the Terms... I would have built the Tyranofex as "Vanilla" (no changes on base load) with Adrenal. Acid spray is a real troop killer....with a cannon I'd look for points to buy a Thorax swarm to keep troops off of you.
At a low point game Regen on the Big Bug is a morale crusher, many will actually stop shooting it At higher points its just a point sink in most cases, so recheck as you go along.

Nothing is built yet, or even purchased, so there is room for change on pretty much anything but the Gaunts. Thinking of replacing the Tyrants Acid blood with Regen. as for the Tyranofex, I noticed the Rupture cannon is kinda high points cost, so I'll replace it with either Fleshborer hive (To compliment my Terms fleshborers, I guess) or acid spray.
Those changes leave me at 933 points, with the removal of rippers. So with that I'm adding some more Biomorphs to the Tyrant, because its not enough to add another unit, and I dont need another Zoanthrope.
So that leaves the Tyrant with Acid blood, Regen, and a Thorax morph. Not sure which is best to go with. That also leaves room for some Morphs on the tyranofex. Automatically Appended Next Post: Last minute change. Adding a Venomthrope instead of biomorphs on the tyranofex. That leaves me 18 points over my goal, but thats fine.

Sounds fine...one place I "stash" extra odd points is Sporemines as Fast Attack, they can Deepstrike in and mess with deployments...
I like Tyranofex with Acid spray, toss in adrenal for speed, and for only a few extra a Thorax hive can handle tarpitting infantry (acid spray 'em as well!) I think that runs 200 even....230 if you toss in Regen....I think you'll come to love the Veno, extra, in low point games.
