Subject: 2k Iyanden - Too Strong for Casual Games?

HI guys.... I play against a couple of guys regularly that run casual SM lists. Do you think this army would be too frustrating to play against in a casual game for them? I think I know the answer. In my opinion the army is competitive, but is not top tier. I cannot say though as I have never seen or played 2 WG units with Spiritseers. Those units combined are 800 plus and against a few common armies I'm pretty sure this will just melt. Grav Bike Spam... TauDar.... Perhaps Mech DE..... Don't even get me started on psyker councils..... ugh.
Farseer - Jetbike, Spirit Stone Anath'lan, Runes of Witnessing
Spiritseer

20 Guardians - 2 Bright Lances
5 Wraith Guard - Wave Serpent w/ SL and Holofield
5 Wraith Guard - D-Scythes, Wave Serpent w/ SL and Holofield
3 Jetbikes

7 Warp Spiders

Its nice and good. I actually really like it.
Depends on how easily people in your meta get angry and call people TFG. In mine its quite quickly... Bring a wraithknight and everyone stares you down. but thats not the norm.

Can't really say. One FLGS I go to and folks give me the anrgy look over 2 or more Wave Serpents or a single Wraithknight. I go to another store and no one bats an eye and drops my Wraithknight in a single turn of shooting.
But, you are correct regarding top tier; it is not. It looks to be a reasonably solid list to bring for fun games and can have fun in local tourneys, but it likely can't handle the current deathstar 40K that is what larger tourneys are trending towards.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Good sir, I do believe that list is illegal. If you're using 2 FOC, correct me. (you might at 2k)
This is a pretty solid list. Lots of scoring and T6-8, which is unique. IT should have no problem getting close with all those wave serpents.
If anything, it looks like a themed list that takes Warp Spiders (I assume, because you like warp spiders).
I would play casually against that list, but only because my casual list is still really very hard.

I don't think it is illegal. It appears to derive from the Iyanden codex in which you can take 1-5 Spirit Seers as a single HQ choice.

It's legal either way. Double force org hits at 2k points, and if there's a spirit seer in one of the primary detachments, the wraithguard are scoring units. Other detachment could bring Windriders (I assume that's what he meant by jetbikes... could be shining spears and which case that'd be illegal) as their troops, and the lone guardian squad.

Nice looking list, my own which I am playing today at a local tournament is,
Hq-farseer
Hq-spiritseer/wraithfirge stone
Troops-Wg (5) serpents/Tl/SL x2
Troops-WG (5) serpent/TlSL/HF x4 scythes
Troops-Guardians (10) serpent/TL/SL/HF
Fast-crimson hunter x2
Heavy-WK
This is the Iyanden list i'm playing and I doubt I will win 2/3 games just because I play vs a bunch of Thunkderhawks/fortifications/that one revenant (hes a douche bag)/and farsight bombs.
But thats just my FLGS.

Unless I'm mistaken, there are 8 troops.
Edit, I just realised its two units of 5, not 5 units of 5. Doh.

@scipio, Honest mistake. Also from the list I posted above, the final result from the local game store tournament is 3/3 wins and 14/15 secondary objectives, the first place winner was a top class Nid list (for unit comp just look at any internet spam list). Just goes to show that WG can put the punch in any game!

That's awesome Arbiter. Was it a 3k tournament lol? If so that is pretty awesome. I don't think wraith units are the most competitive choice, but they are still a good one. Plus they are probably my favorite models in the Eldar range.
