Hi all,

I was wondering what was the best table sizes for certain point games? 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000+
Also, what size table do you usually play on? 4x4, 6x4, 8x4? Thanks!

Kill Team can be done reasonably at 2x2, 4x4 is good for 1000~ pts, and 6x4 really should be for anything bigger than that.

Pretty much all tournaments run games in the standard 1750~ bracket at 6x4.

The only time you're likely to see 8x4 will probably be either apocalypse or a campaign based event.

I'd use 6x4 for anything from above 1000pts to 2500pts. 1000 can be done on either 4x4 or 6x4.

I don't feel that 40k works with a set "x feet for every y points" style table. very small games of kill team and combat patrol need very small boards, while 3000+ point games benefit from having a lot more room to take avantage of speed/range.

But for "normal" 40k, 6x4 works great, and it's sort of the default. I like bigger tables, but I play IG, so I like having more room to manuever.

It varies, but different sizes will tend to dictate the type of game as much as anything else. While I usually go for the standard 6x4, here's a few other ways I like:

2000+ points, 8x4: helps get across the wider sense of conflict, less cramped.

Up to 1000 on a 4x4 packed with terrain makes for some really intense street fighting. Short range firefights in this set up are really fun, and long-range weapons are less powerful.

If you're really tight for space, a 2x4 (played lenth-ways) with 500 point forces and a bunch of terrain can make a great skirmish setup.

Actually 1000 points on 6x4 feels a bit empty, and much of the table unused.

And 2000 is just very crowded at a 6x4, and if you CAN use a bigger table, you would probably enjoy it more.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
