Basically, I picked up a bunch more crons off my cousin and now i have a large force but i feel its lacking any kind of direction (if that makes sense) I was wondering how i could run what i have at 1000 - 1500 points, as well as what units would benefit me when i expand further.

I have:

Overlord, scythe, orb
Zandrek and Orbyron

40 warriors
10 tesla immortals
2x ghost Arks (1 could be changed to a doomsday ark)
Doom/ night scythe

5 Lychguards, shields, swords

5 Destroyers
3 wraiths
10+ scarab bases

Annihilation barge

Right now I'm thinking going with a metal horde backed up by the ghost arks could work well, while Zandrek hangs with the tesla immortals. the destroyers, barge and doomscythe provide heavy fire and the wraiths and scarabs can be a neuscence wherever they see fit.

I get a feeling the lychguards are too pricey to be of much use, but would be best run with Orbyron for extra combat power (plus if it gets tough he can always teleport away!)

I want to purchase another box of wraiths and a another anni barge but this will be a while off yet (I may have spent too much dollar on hobby recently)

Any ideas of how to run what i have in a semi competative way would be great! (I don't have any real attahcment to the special characters, so i will happily drop them) there seems to be potential at lower points but i feel if stretched to 2k i would loose all focus and it would be a mess.

thanks!

Nemessor Z is my current fave HQ in the dex. He's got so many fun rules. And using him with Obyron can thro an opponent off kilter (though I think folk are catching up tbh). If you are playing casually you can definitely have some fun with this. Do you still have the parts to bash the destroyers to heavy destroyer? Is the gun glued or magnetised to the barge? Command barges can be fun with Zandrekh zoomin. Off and O'Byron non scatter deep striking a unit right up to him (rapid fire etc...). Anyway, here's a not very though about list (oh... Think about may be kitbashing your lychguards into Crypteks? Destrukteks in ghost arks are good).

Zamdrekh
Obyron

20 warriors (ghost ark - they footslog beside, maybe with Zandrekh for extra get-back-up ness along with ark)
5 warriors (ghost ark)
5 warriors (night scythe - always jink, try to get this guy to turn five by offering better targets, see below)

3 x heavy destroyers - long range string shooting, we don't have much but these guys are it, and preferred enemy, maybe hide them turn one and hit something hard turn two, if you can make them a target it can help keep your scythe alive, against drop pod lists, reserve them - then they can be "phased reinforcements in - as could your three man wraith unit - which is three wraiths short so I haven't used it)
10 x scarabs (hide em, kill tanks, charge marines, guardians, orks, guard, but hide from high strength stuff)

Annihilation barge (again, lack of redundancy means you want to with bunch this up beside ghost arks or hide it turn one and force choices turn two)

That's 1498, I think. Good luck!

If you put O'Byron with the 20 man squad and then ghost walked them over to Zandrekh by the other barge, that could put your opponent on the back foot?

That sounds pretty cool. Glad to hear Z is a usefull hero, I like the rules for him but with Oby they make a rather pricey duo.

Unfortunatley aside form one ark and they scythe my stuff is pretty much set as is and i intend to use the ark as a ghost ark (I love the idea of ghost walking a silver horde and don;t really like the doomsday ark) I'll also hold onto the lychguards as they're glued tight and fluffy when used with Z.

Would a second barge help complement the first?

Definitely. I would say that in my necron army the most common unit to give up first blood with is my annihilation barge. I love em, but my choice is only ever whether I take two, or three (unless I am running mass flyer spam with three doom scythes, which I have only done once)

I thought so, so choosing two basically works to give the opponents too many threats to choose from (same with 2 ghost arks)

I'm gonna get writing a few lists, i'll be getting together with a friend to play a 1k game soon (I'll stick to my Overlord at such low points) I'll see how things lie after a game or 2. Thanks for the advice so far!
