If it's already been asked, I apologize! But my bud and I split DV, I chose CSM. Is adding the Battleforce a good choice to get me to a decent starting army? Worth the money? Does anyone else recommend any other options to get me to a basic 750 pt army? Doesn't need to be crazy competitive! Any advice would be great!

The battle force is a good pick up. You get some bikes and a rhino with some troops. If you are just playing friendly games it will work well.
If you want to get more competitive in the future I recommend using the possessed models to make more marines. They are more versatile. Pick up some obliterators maybe another rhino and you have a good base for a good list

When in doubt do what seems hardest

HELL. Or just England

Like you I started off much the same way, taking the CSM part of DV and then purchasing the battle force.

The battleforce is pretty solid. Assuming you don't have anything else, it would give you some much needed normal CSM (which can easily be used as any of the cult marines too if you wish). Dont bother using the possessed as possessed, they really do suck, id make them into more marines or something else!

But its a pretty good start Id advise taking a look on the GW website to see if their are any other units you like the look of and consider adding those guys too.

Have fun with chaos!
