I played US infantry(mostly assault company) and mech through a couple of years, and now want trying something new against those infantry-heavy list and few fragile shermans. I didn't want British and Germany as there are so many players playing those and I do not like mirror match which both players are playing same nation, so my choice was soviet armor.

my first tankovy list is here, guard heavy tank list.
as we play 1750 in most game, the list is fitted in 1750 point.

to run actual list, I started with zvezda KVs, as they are only about $3 at my local store.

I bought 15 KVs, and decided made this KV mod.1940 looks like KV-1e, so made their bolted armor on turret.
I didn't made additional front hull and side hull armor as BF's model only shows turret armor and thought adding additional armor on turret is enough to represent KV-1e.

after finish first additional turret armor set, I casted them in resin and put them on zvezda KVs, and changed their gun mantlet.

The first finished model looks very good to me, have enough shape for their 1/100 scale battle.

So I assembled and primed all my KVs and now they are ready to paint.

I'm going to paint them as soon as possible.

That right there is a fine bit of modeling for 15mm. Good job they look sexy as hell.

That is an absolutely ridiculous amount of KVs! Good looking armor plates, and it's nice to see some examples of the Zvezda models!

I sprayed all KVs today with very bright russian green.

The regimental commander's tank is sculpted with a flag to represent him as CiC.

Are your 8s models Battlefront or does Zveda do a variation of those as well?

Have to say, that is pretty damn impressive force there, and something I might have to "borrow". You certainly don't see alot of KVs being used late war around my meta.

8s are combination of BF turret/fuel tank and Zvezda hull.
as you know there are only 2 variation of zvezda KVs, KV-1 mod.1940 and KV-2.

I used oil paint to washing all KVs, now they looks little better.

Also I made some objective marker, cutting vinyl coated printed paper and glued them with felt.

12 are too many for me, so I gave 8 of them to some of my gaming partners who have soviet army but no distinctive objective marker.

My FLGS owner swears by them. He doesn't like JS-2s because of the RoF 1 thing, so he always adds a platoon of KVs to his list.

His view is that while the JS-2 has better penetration, it has a harder time hitting while on the move - particularly when dealing with the usual Veteran, Concealed German opponents.

I love what you have done here, I really like it when people convert the standard models of PSC, Zvezda and BF etc to make interesting stuff.

I really like your force, it gives me a kick up the rear to get my 15mm A34 COMETs finished.

far away from Battle Creek, Michigan

The KV-1E is a FINE TANK in late war tournament lists. It does two things really well:
1. Kill gun teams to death. The KV will go toe-to-toe with Pak40s at short range and 8.8s at long range. 3+firepower and RoF2 gets the job done--I speak from experience.
2. Assault u.s. infantry. Bazookas are AT10 --KV side armor shrugs this off most of the time.

The KV-1e is inexpensive and performs well in every roll except anti-tank. In the list above I'd actually drop the flame tanks and try to add some proper anti-tank assets. The regular KV-1 is good enough in assault that you don't need flame tanks.

You know I never considered these, but are there any lists you can field these with KV-85's or High AT tanks? (thinking T34-85's).

Or would it be one of those Desperate Measures Hero lists?

It would mean I could potentially get a Soviet List for less than £60.

@buo-ong would you consider making those parts available for cost and postage?
