So, I'm sure we've all found combos we like for our armies in Deadzone, I thought maybe we could have a thread dedicated to Deadzone teams.
Enforcers:
Sergeant (15)
Sniper (13)
Sniper (13)
Defender (10)
Defender (10)
61pts, 9 left over
This list gives me options for extra ammo and possibly a holo field on my sergeant, if we run with all upgrades available (the games I've played, we do). The sergeant can bash heads in CC, the defenders have better defense and Knockback options, and the Snipers wreck everything: with the help of Knockback and "Sniper" applying to the model, not the gun, these guys are wrecking balls.
Plague:
Stage One (22)
Stage Two (10)
Stage Two (10)
Stage Three (6)
Stage Three (6)
Stage Three HMG (6)
Plague Dog (3)
Plague Dog (3)
Plague Dog (3)
69pts, 1 left over
Final point would be for the 1pt ammo to add onto the HMG model. I've actually been running this list light (whoops!) and have left off two dogs. Now, the reason for so many dogs is two-fold: with mutations, you may get stuff that will seriously hinder your models. Why put it on quality? Throw it on a junk dog. By that same logic, if you get a nice upgrade, doggies are fast and can benefit nicely (AP1 attacks or Tough, I'm looking at you). Dogs are cheap models that can be sacrificed or turned into power models, and allow your team lots of flexibility. Regular S3's are in to gain benefits from potential AP1, Tough, or Acid Breath. Alternatively, one S3 can be turned into a S3 with HMG, if the player wants.
Marauders:
Still a work in progress, I've only taken a friendly team, as the guy I was trying to get into the game hadn't played a Mantic game before, so I took a bit of everything (no gun track!). Don't have a competitive list for these guys yet.
Rebels:
Haven't even played them, but there will be Grogans. Those models are awesome. Them and a Terraton or two. I have two. I should use them. :

As with all gaming systems, I tend to vary lists a lot, but here are a few favourite setups:
Rebs:
Sniper: 15
Yndij: 6
Yndij: 6
Human: 4
Human: 4
Grogan with Desolator: 12
Terraton: 21
total: 68
Sniper and Grogan form a firebase, preferably up high, while the Humans and Yndij go up the flanks and the Terraton goes for CC
Enforcers:
Sergeant: 15
Sniper:12
Strike: 10
Strike: 10
Assault: 10
Recon N32-19: 12 OR Burst Laser: 10
Assault and Sgt go for counter-assault/spearhead as needed, Sniper and Recon pick off targets, Strikes blazeaway or shoot to kill while going for objectives. Once I get one converted, I intend to swap a Strike or Assault for a Defender.
Plague:
General: 10
S3: 6
S3: 6
S3: 6
S3 w. HMG: 6
Dog: 3
Dog: 3
S2: 10
S2: 10
S2: 10
Pretty self-explanatory. The S2s go for assault in tandem with the Dogs, while the S3s go for pinnings.

Well, may as well start the thread of with some quantity over quality (since mine won't be ). My plague strike force is a base list that has 3-4 variants with only a couple of swaps, should give me a lot of versatility in gameplay with only a few extra painted models: s1 - 22 s3 - 6 s3 - 6 s3 - 6 dog - 3 s2 - 10 s2 - 10 s3 hmg - 6 extra point buys ammo for the HMG. Switch a stage 3 for a second dog, freeing up 3 points. Swap hmg into boomstick and gives both remaining standard s3's ammo: 22 s1 6 s3 6 s3 3 dog 3 dog 10 s2 10 s2 8 boomstick 2x ammo. Do as above, swap s3 for dog, drop ammo.. take a 3rd 2nd gen! 22 s1 6 s3 6 s3 3 dog 3 dog 10 s2 10 s2 10 s2 I also Like TtW's extra dogs version. I'll get around to doing lists with the s3 general once I've got an initial strike team from all factions painted up. This set-up does the first list in 8 models, then jumps to the second with 2 more, and the third with one more after that, I like it. Enforcers, my initial list will be as such: 15 Sgt 13 sniper 10 Fusion gun 12 Defender 10 Strike 10 strike It's what I have built after some conversions waiting for deadzone. I think the fusion gun and defender will work well with the sniper by knocking stuff out into the open. Will try it with an assault too. My reasoning for the fusion gun is that there are no "fast" or "agile" models in the enforcer lineup, and so my only reliable way to have frag is with the fusion gun. Plus I mean it's a frag grenade that goes where you tell it. Being a deliberate weapon is only as much of an issue for this guy as it is snipers and missile launchers... order him to move, fire the gun on his turn, cake! Also liking the sound of a 5-man team, especially one what includes a sniper pair! Recon is pretty tempting though. No experience with marauders or rebs yet (well anything, but I haven't even looked into lists for them).

Totally 12, lemme double check my cards. Yep totally 12. Makes them a bit harder to work around, but in captain/5-man lists they work out just fine. Or 6 man lists with lower cost specialists.

Hello all,
I have just got my hands on the Deadzone starter set and after a few test games (Against myself so far) I am absolutely loving the gameplay. However, I am really disappointed with the models, there is just so much flash and fiddly components they are awful (IMO).
My starter list for the Enforcers is:-
Sergeant (15pts)
Enforcer (10pts)
Enforcer (10pts)
Enforcer (10pts)
Sniper with targeter (14pts)
Burst rifle with ammo (11pts)
I'm looking forward to seeing how it fares once I can find an opponent.

Be aware the targeter is only allowed in campaigns by default. The only items they have on the list for pick-up games are ammo, ap ammo, and sentry guns for enforcers. Nothing saying your opponent won't let you do it, especially as it opens the option for him as well and makes list building a bit more fun on occasion.
List looks pretty reasonable, a lot a lot of suppression with a sniper to actually kill things, and a sarge to order either of your specialists around for bonus actions.

A similar list to the (few) games I've managed to play, but so far I've taken a rocket launcher over the burst laser. My reasoning is with a standard encforcer you already have a lot of suppression options, but if something happens to your sniper your killing hits take a whack. I do plan on trying out the burst laser though, just to see how it works, however when I do I also plan on swapping one of the standard 'forcers for an assault.

I was just going to say that Sniper is basically king enforcer specialist in the current climate it seems. Whenever they decide for there to be more armor than he can deal with, the rocket launcher and perhaps thermal rifle will come into play. Perhaps the asterians and forge fathers will skew it a bit.

Thanks - I must have overlooked the wargear rules.
My ideal list is to swap out the burst rifle for a missile launcher, though I am working on a conversion at the moment. I imagine that massive AP is awesome for impacting on tough / really tough models.

Just bare in mind that AP doesn't impact on Tough and Really Tough, just armour. Nothing can negate Tough at the moment, but just say a Gen 1 which has both, yeah the AP does help.

Worst idea ever. High AP, direct fire heavy weapons just do not work in Deadzone. Sniper, Frag, Firestorm. These are the ranged abilities you should focus on. Everything else is chaff. The only direct fire heavy weapon that isn't just dead points is the Rebs' TK ZERO team, and that's only because it has Marksman and a massively disruptive secondary effect.
If direct fire heavy weapons are ever to be useful, the upcoming Mecha wil have to have really pathetic Survive stats, something like 6+ on two dice. Then maybe, maybe a missile launcher will sometimes beat a sniper in effectiveness.

My next game I'll be tryingout the following (working from memory, so sorry if I get a points value wrong, please correct me)
Stage 3 General (10)
Stage 3 General (10)
Plague Teraton (26)
Stage 3 HMG (6)
2 Stage 3s (12)
2 Doggies (6)
I make it 70 on the nose. The classic tactic of using the Command action and move cards to get the big guy across the table to start fething dudes up ASAP. Except the big guy is a Teraton this time, not a Stage 1.

Yeah, command points are awesome, especially with sniper models: hide behind a building, command a jump, you still have a full long action available. It's how I sniped my opponent's Marauder Warlord's head from his shoulders, first shot of the game. Nuking his option for command points and limiting his card draw was cripplingly cruel. Sadly, it works best with enforcers due to jump packs, but I imagine moving sideways to avoid buildings blocking view could help as well for those without packs/jump.

I really need to take a second glance at whichever gaming space I ultimately create to use for any games where I try to teach someone to play. It's very easy to make something that looks cool but is only accessible to enforcers, totally not on purpose.

70 pt rebs
2 Yindij Sgt
4 Yindij troopers
2 TK-0 teams
100 pt rebs:
3 Yindij Sgt
7 Yindij troopers
2 TK-0 teams
1pt leftover
Plan: Troopers blaze enemy into submission Sgt.s order aim on TK-0s and the TK-0 makes the kill / major disruption. If main goal is movement based Troopers and Sgt.s charge ahead and leave the TK-0s to provide cover fire.

It's worth making lists, as the Enforcers have almost 150ish points of the top of my head, Plague are closer to 110ish. Making a list is easy, though, as all the cards have points on them, so there's no need to flick back and forth through the book. Should take no more than a minute to add up a list. If you're just staring out, then here are a couple of lists that should serve to introduce most major rules. Plague: General: 10 3x S3: 18 S3 with HMG: 6 2xDogs: 6 3x S2: 30 If you want, drop the General, a S2 and a dog for the S1. Enforcers: Sergeant (use the assault enforcer): 15 Sniper: 12 Bust Laser : 10 3x Rifles. Uses only core models, covers a good mix of units, seems like a fair matchup. Hope that helps.

As for Rebs, I'm more and more convinced that Kraaw spam is the way to go.. 6 points gets you an awesome blast weapon, 4+ melee and AP 1 in combat. The mini can do so much at once, it is incredibly versatile.

I think your list is 7 points over isn't it Paradigm? Can only get 7 enforcers into a 70pt list if you take the really basic 10 pointers all round with no leader. It's good though, if you just drop one of the rifle enforcers and pass around some ammo of either kind.

I have three currently, would like more but don't really want to get more boosters just for the one mini.
Probably best to convert some Kroot if you want a little DZ swarm of them.
My ideal Rebs list would be something like:
Although since that many Kraaw would just be ridiculously hard to get hold of, I'll probably settle for something a little less spammy:
Still plenty of blast, but also some solid blaze away to turn those pinned models into dead models. 8/9 dice blaze away (10 if you can get a card) is rather cool.

Yeah, you're right. I've edited it. I tend to just buy 2-3 non-basics and then fill out the rest with rifles/assaults, so I must have just miscounted how many points I have left.

I had a great time when I played as Marauders (Off of the top of my head):
1x Commando Captain
1x Ripper Suit (The melee version)
3x Mawbeasts
3x Goblin Snipers
3x Commandos
The goblins were able to absolutely annihilate non-hardened targets like Shark Boy and Rocket Girl when they weren't getting mushed into walls by Kraaw, and the three commandos, aided by battle cards and the (Nearly-permanently Distracted) Ripper Suit spotter managed to Blaze Away enough to kill 2 of the Reb footsoldiers, and force a third to keep his head down after getting injured to boot.
Plus, Mawbeasts are surprisingly capable against bigger stuff like Teratons in melee. They're not tough enough to survive a decent hit, of course, but with a battle card or a charge I found they had enough dice to at least tie the combat or ping harmlessly off of the tough-and-armor-and-other-nonsense Teraton.
Fun story: I had a goblin Sniper, who got a headshot card and rolled more 8s than I'd seen before, getting something like 7 successes. I was incredibly sad when he got 5 successes from crazy-8 luck and only got injured

^ That right there is exactly the kind of marauder list I don't want to see on the other side of the board. :p
You probably had just 2 commandos and mawbeasts though, since that list comes to 78 points.
The sniper really is brutal, one of the few minis with a sniper rifle that actually has the sniper special rule. And for 7 points!
