hello again folks asi'm new to W40K and miniature painting all together i had a few questions regarding wash techniques.
I'll give a quick example of how i do it and then any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated

Btw I'm an ork player

for skin i start with

A Base coat of Waagh Flesh
Then wash Beil-Tan Green
Then Drybrush / highlight with Moot Green

My question here is, I also have a pot of Waywatcher green wash that i have tried applying over the moot green. I feel like it adds a little something but i'm not entirely sure. Is this a wasted wash / step?

and to dull down the clan colors on all my orks clothing i use an earthshade wash. It gives them i real muddy / dirty look. AAny other suggestions how i can improve on that affect? maybe a more realistic or efficient technique?

I generally - basecoat, wash, basecoat, highlight colour.
For more 'dirt' find a light brown & drybrush it of the bottom edge of the clothes. Also I prefer orky weapons to be heavily rusty. Start with a very dark brown then a dark reddy-brown. Stipple with orange or use that new GW technical rust effect stuff (not used it myself as I use weathering powders but you can try them further on down the line). Finally add a few light highlights of silver where wear would occur.

yes i use that rust dry base from GW .. works great!

for weapons i use leadbelcher as a base .. then i wash with Sepia .. and then dry brush rust

I always found washes (or shades as they are called now) really useful especially for painting horde armies. In your introduction post you said that you want different squads to be painted in different clan colours. In that case I think that using Agrax Earthshade (which I guess is the one you are using) on all the cloths is a great idea because it ties the different squads together.
Concerning the waywatcher green: This is a Glaze and not, like e.g. Earthshade, a Shade. Basically what it does is, it makes the skin look 'greener' instead of shading the recesses. I haven't really tried it myself on skin painted the way you do it, but I know what you mean – it adds something to the model. It would help if you post a picture, though. I always love to see how Ork players paint skin.
