Forgive me if this is abhorrent to you WFB players but...

I'm a 40k player (about 3 years) and I'd like to field a WFB army. To get the hang of it, I was thinking of starting with Orks/Goblins and starting with my 40k models put on movement trays. Is that possible? I mean, if I magnetized the bottom of the round base of my boyz would those be the appropriate size, placed in the rank/file style of WFB?

I'm not quite ready to take the plunge. I'm thinking about buying when the new edition comes out.... I know that GW isn't telling when that will be.... but when do you guys think?

Are oversized movement trays ok? I have WFB boar riders that I've converted to my 40k Bikerboyz and Nob Bikers. To do that I had to glue on some dakka onto one side of the hog. I think this will push the profile so they cant sit in a standard size movement tray for cavalry. In friendly games, would that disrupt play too much? Example below.

Well the guns are on the other side... dangit. You can see the assault cannon sticking out on my biker boss's hog's right flank. Below

Base size in WHFB helps to determine your unit frontage, and how many models can fight in a combat. Most infantry use a 20mm or 25mm base, and infantry units are a minimum of 5 bases wide.
You would be at a slight disadvantage with your larger base sizes. More models would be able to fight against you due to their denser formations.
