So, I thought this might be a good thread to have Dakkaroos talk about their gardening plans this year.

I have some Scotch Bonnets germinating now, because it's hard to find unusual peppers where I live, and you cannot make Jamaican beef patties with inferior peppers. Here's where I am so far:

Spoiler:

I also have some strawberries seeds soaking in my refrigerator, and will probably do tomatoes when it's time as well. I also want to add garlic but that's a ways off.

How about you guys? Discuss your plans and ideas below.

Ironically despite where I live I have never grown corn. Post pics!

So, a question - when do you guys usually move seedlings to seed starter in peat pots?

I have 2" of topsoil and then bedrock, but I've been thinking of making some raised beds with a few 2x4s cheaply. This would allow me to grow something other then tomatoes (so many tomatoes).

So far I have two large raised beds and 2 small ones, plus a few berry sprigs. It provides my 6 month old with about half his solid foods right now. Once I get some more ground based plants growing, I should be able to double that yield.

Oh, and scads of marigolds- once you show a 3 year old how to deadhead, they will be in every square inch of your garden.

I got one raised bed that I need to prepare for the spring, and I need to order some seeds for it.

I want to do one or two more raised beds this year, so I need to get working on that. I think we are going to try to do the "three sisters" this year, so I'm looking forward to that.

Last five years I've been living in an area that I couldn't plant in. Part of the lease, since the company didn't want to be liable since some agency sprayed some chemical in the region 50 years ago. Never mind the fact that our entire housing complex is surrounded by corn and bean fields...

At any rate, we'll be moving to a new locale this spring, so I'm hoping to get my green thumb on again. Any suggestions for a later in the season planting?

There is a calendar here you can plug your zip code into. There are some things you can plant quite late; for example lettuce, spinach, mustard can, according to Google, go out as late as September. I wanted to do garlic this year but it turns out you don't plant it until October.
