Looking at running a Mega dread list, giving orks an AV13 walker with 3hp and a str 7 ap3 large blast weapon is very appealing. The question I have is; is the dread worth 175 pts or should it be spent elsewhere? I was thinking about running 2 mega dreads, a Mekka dread with KFF, 6 killa kans in the Fast attack slot, then a dakka jet and whatever I have left in points fill with shoota boys.

Has anyone ran a mega dread or mekka dread and if so how has it played?

Thanks

Meka Dreads are very expensive so you gotta be careful on when you take them. As for the Mega Dreads, having one MD and two Big Trakks (Supa or Rattler) for heavy support seems like a good balance. I look at the Mega Dreads a way to save space on the heavy support part of the FoC as that they can hold two cannons. Keep in mind that these are still walkers with the same number of hull points as a Trukk so target saturation is still your friend. Think of a Mega Dread as a glass cannon: it's strong offensively but as soon as your opponent rolls a single penetraiting hit you had better pray that they do not roll an EXPLODES! results.

In a list where you're spamming Dreads and Kans they could certainly be effective, drawing a lot of fire so more of your weaker walkers survive to reach the enemy.

As for FW Ork units in general in IA:Aeronautica there's a Flakk Trakk which can take something like 6 Big Shootas (2 of them BS3 Grot Sponsons) as well as a Flakk Gun (Quad Gun) and has front armour 12 in the region of 100 points.

Not sure if its been updated but that caught my eye a while back.

All good ideas, I like the idea of 3 bigtraks with supa cannons to help the dreads, mostly this list is a for fun list and not expecting it to win every game.

If this list is for fun then field as many Mega/Meka Dreads as you can convert and have a field day! If you want to be a little bit more meta than that, take Grot Riggers for all vehicles too. Go ahead and field Buzzgob too, he's basically the ultimate Big Choppa Warboss, then put him in a Junka.
