I read the faq about the scroll and the scrolls seem to turn a non Psyker HQ into a Psyker Mastery Level 1.
I have no idea how many warp charges he will have though. But with some luck you might roll Iron Arm on him. (Not a big chance though. I'm just going for an idea.) Maybe add an Dimensional key. I understood deep striking units won't scatter no more. Might be fun with lots of Oblits or Terminators. Or giving him the Murder Sword.
Anyway. Will this good little fella be any viable in combination with Huron, for his infiltrate. Like Terminators in a landraider as a unit. (High chance of assaulting on turn one.) or Warptalons (Seems like a fun way of using them this way for once.), or even Chosen using the Black Legion supplement. Or large blob of cultists.
Would any of these tactics be any viable or extremely suprising when it all works out? I'm not really looking at any point limits though. Just for gaks and giggles.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

From my experience of running apostly, he's best used as cheap as possible. Mark of Tzeench, a ton of cultists and u've got a character with 4 attacks, 3++ with zealot. Another option is AoBF but i think it's a waste on such a slow character. Ofc, you can put him in a landraider with generic bp+ccw marines and they'll be doing fine vs all regular targets. But that's how you waste a 6' ld10 bauble.
I've had some fun experience with apostle downing C'Tan shard in 2 turns of challenges cause he had 4 rerolls to 3++ save, hit, wound from cultists. And another one was 4 turns (8 cc phases) fighting vs some dark angels character that cost more than apostle + cultists.
However, that may apply to any character in a blob of cultists. Anywayz, his main strength is Zealot and ld10 bauble which is best used with cultists.

He's got the profile of a sorc. If you want Iron Arm on such a profile why not just use a sorc and roll on biomancy? The answer is because a lord is still better in cc. He always will be. The trade off the apostle gets for his crap stat line is his support abilities. Thus you have to take advantage of those support abilities if you want to use him. Personally I find said abilities one of the most lack luster things in the dex. If you want a support HQ a telepathy sorc is pretty much better in every way. The DA could've been so cool too...

I'd not say that sorc's worse than lord in cc. If you roll properly, he's pretty beasty with a force axe or stave. Though, if you compare lord and apostle, than yes. Lord's better hands down.

I've used DA MoT SoC Fam Scrolls. It was fun getting a different power every turn, expensive unit, but fun. Need to take Sig of Corp if you are going to do it (unless he starts with it base) for the 3+ invul save.

The problem with the DA is that he probably shouldn't cost more than 80 points for what you get. His statline is so terrible.

why take a scroll of magnus when you could have the burning brand instead which is better than 97% of the random psychic powers you will roll.

If you're dead set on the scroll of Magnus take Huron, he basically gets a free one and he is actually moderately good.
