I've searched dakka painting and modeling forums but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Ditto with the internet in general. I have several dozen dw termites and finally decided to stop risking them in ds shenanigans. From now on they'll ride in sm style aboard a couple lrc's. The thing is I cannot find a good tutorial for painting up a dw land raider. I primed my first one white, and now I find the task of painting such a big canvas terribly daunting. My termites were primed gray then painted with a base of Deneb stone washed in seraphim sepia and highlighted with a mix of the old foundation near white (can't remember the name). I don't want to even think about trying that method on something as big as a lr though!

Any tips or links to a good guide?

No tip's or guide's but to get my DW color, i like to prime chaos white, heavy wash of serpahim sepia, and then dry brushing ushanti bone. It streamline's the process, and provides a great bone base. Dunno if it help's but i figured i would offer it up. Might make it a bit easier on such a large canvas? Also break it up, paint sub assemblies to break up the longer paint sessions, i feel your pain i still have a basecoated lrc my self.

Winterdyne, those are absolutely amazing! I would love to make use of your 'recipe' for DW, both the terminators and the LR! Is there any chance of either a list of paints/washes used or even a detailed step by step on achieving the look?

You'll need a dual action airbrush. I used old GW foundation paints a lot - I'll put what I'd use now:

The terminators:
Black undercoat,
Zenithal progression (see http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/winterdyne_tutorial1.pdf):
Khemri Brown (VMA Hemp)
Dheneb Stone (VMA Sand Yellow then VMA Sand)
VMA Ivory.

Devlan Mud directed washes (Agrax Earthshade)
Re-highlight with Ivory (use glaze medium to soften this in).

The Land Raider:
White or light grey primer.
Preshade panel lines (practice your thin lines with the airbrush) and edges (yes, you -shade- edges) with a dark brown (I think I used VMC Leather Brown).
Numerous very thin coats of Khaki (or a VMA Sand Yellow. Build up by adding Ivory to the mix and working toward centres of panels.
Drybrush very lightly with ivory (this picks out the shaded edges and gives them a sharp look).

Here's the original WIP thread:

One of the first commissions I actually did, just after going full time on it.
