Hey all,
I'm playing a combat patrol game against my buddy soon (probably orks or imperial guard, maybe tau). I have decided to play a fluffy blood angels list of two assault squads. Because 20 marines with jump packs is 380 points, where would you spend the remaining 20?

4 flamers? 2 meltaguns? 1 power sword and 1 flamer? Drop 1 marine for 2 power swords or 3 meltaguns?

Please help!

How about 2 Meltabombs and 2 flamers?

Against 400pts of IG or Orks? 4 flamers split into 4 combat squads with the flamers in 2 squads and the sarges in the other 2 squads to reduce the risk of flaming yourself out of combat. Against any vehicle with rear av of10 you will glance it to death with ccb attacks. Against vehicles with a rear av of 11/12 you have krak granades. If he takes a vehicle with av 12+ in a 400pt game he has probably handicapped himself anyway...

OK so the double flamers in each squad is good! I'm concerned that they need more power in close combat

If its against Tau give them headstone so they can bury themselves after the FW are finished pulsing away!!!

Honestly I know this isn't what you're looking for but I would take:

5x assault marines in a Razor with Las/Plas
5x assault marines in a Razor with Las/Plas
5x scouts with snipers and cloaks

It has redundancy, it has durability, it has firepower, it has speed (more so than Jump packers at least) and it makes more sense for a "combat patrol" of Blood Angels. Forward recon type stuff. Can you imagine 20 guys on roaring wings of fire flying around for days trying to sabotage and harry the enemy? I don't feel like they'd get very far. Where as some scouts surveying enemy encampments and picking off targets of opportunity and then calling in APCs with big guns to destroy key objectives and secure other munitions/intelligence/hostages/supplies and then get out, seems a little more logical. Not to mention much less exhausting for the soldiers. I know these are space marines we're talking about but even if you were an 8ft tall giant monster human I still think you would prefer a cramped, bumpy road trip to having a rocket strapped to your back for days on end.

Also you can add a Libby to sit with/prescience/tank for the scouts for 100 pts and get a nice neat 500 pt list
