Hey guys,

I recently placed 2nd in a local (1500pt) RTT. I brought Daemons.

My question is that in the game I lost against the gentleman that won the tourney we were finishing a close combat with 2 of my princes against a blob of roughly 20 guard. Needless to say the princes did their thing as expected. Once combat was resolved I swept his guard and went to consolidate with my princes on the bottom of his turn. He was holding my backfield objective and I was holding his. Since my princes had just finished combat and were not in the air it was my understanding that I could rotate my model in any direction and take flight. However, he stated that I could only turn 90 and then fly. I am fairly certain units can rotate a full 360 degrees before moving just like a tank. I know that once flying you can indeed only bank 90 degrees however, I was on the ground. Any clarification on this? If I am right then I believe this mistake cost me the game due to the fact that we ended up with a tie on the primary objective (Emperor's Will). And then I lost the secondary which was objectives. I would have been able to turn take flight vector the 3 guard he had on 1 objective hopefully killing them if not at least causing them to take a LD check and then would have been close enough to my own backfield (Emperor's Will) objective with my prince that had Corrosive Breath (S5 AP5 Template) which could have murdered the 6 guard he had on that objective. I'm by no means bitter and am very pleased with the 2nd place finish but I would ultimately like to know for future reference.

My list was as follows:

-Keeper of Secrets:
Mastery lvl 3 (all telepathy... mainly for invis)
Exalted Reward (Portalglyph)
Greater Reward (kept any roll of a 1-3 dropped the rest for lash)

-2 Plaguebearer Squads
Plagueridden for both
Instrument for both

-Slaneesh Prince:
Wings
Armor
Mastery lvl3 (All Bio)
Exalted Reward (Grimore)
Greater Reward (again kept any result 1-3 dropped results of 4-6)

Slaneesh Prince:
Wings
Armor
Mastery lvl3 (All Bio)
2x Greater Rewards
1x Lesser Reward

Slaneesh Prince:
Wings
Armor
Mastery lvl3 (All Bio)
2x Greater Rewards
1x Lesser Reward

During none flying movement you can move any way you please. On the turn you start flying, you can only turn 90, so make sure they are pointed how you want after the consolidation, but before your turn.

Consolidation is normal movement.

You are only limited to the 90 degree pivot when Swooping, it is impossible to be Swooping when consolidating.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Yeah.

If you forgot to spin them around when you consolidated then you goofed good. If not then you were cheated.

I would also agree with the posters above me: as far as I know there is no 90 degree restriction when moving normally.

Halfway on topic: does a Swooping FMC still have 360 degree LOS? I would assume it does, but I have had people question it and it would be nice being 100% certain.

Yes it does. Only vehicles have firing arcs.

"At the start of its move, a Flying Monstrous Creature must declare whether it is Swooping or Gliding until the start of its next turn." (49)

So consolidation moves are made when you are still gliding therefore you can face any way you like, but once you want to use swooping you are stuck only turning 90 degrees in the movement phase.
