Sybarite Swinging an Agonizer
|
Hello, I'm starting dark eldar and had a few questions.
Can an archon be put on a sky board or jetbike?
Is raider spam worth doing or should is it only the popular venom spam that works?
I know this edition favors shooting but are dark eldar fast enough that their CC is still efficient? Ala wyches and hellions?
Is a kabalite warrior Sargent worth giving the agonizer too?
What's the hype about Baron Sathnyx?
Scourges, are they worth what the statlines and wargear say they will do?
I ask because I could play them friendly but I don't want too. I want a competitive build, and don't wanna spend much money in models when I just built 10k of tau.

Archons can't take skyboards or jetbikes.
Venom is the one that's worth for spam but Raiders also have a lot of utility with Dark Lances and splinter racks.
Beastmasters are good CC units. Wyhces are good against vehicles. I personally don't have any experience with hellions but a unit of 10 should be fine with the Baron.
Kabalite Warriors Sergeants, or "Sybarites" or not worth taking at all since you don't want your warriors in CC anyways.
The Baron grants +1 to deployment roll which is very good since Dark Eldar are good alpha strikers. He also confers Stealth and Hit and Run rules to the unit he joins which are decent as well.
Scourges can bring good heavy weapon support to the table indeed. But I personally don't like them.
If you want an easy competetive build I'd suggest you to look somewhere else. But they can do well from what I've seen if you can pull it off. Competitive builds include MSU and lots of venoms.

I guess I should be more specific, I'm starting them because I like the models, I like the theme etc etc, but I'd like to play as competitive as possible with them. My local area has a lot of competitive players but 0 dark eldar players, and no one really uses allies anyways. So no taudar. Automatically Appended Next Post: But thanks for the information, I was thinking scourgea with those haywire rifles and haywire grenades could be great to deal with heavy armor like land raiders quickly

Yeah I'm not necessarily saying they are bad. Like you, I play them mostly for fluff and awesome looks and I just don't like wings

I think Scourges with haywire are a great use of FA slots. I bring two 5 man squads as standard. My environment isn't the most competitive, just saying.
Venom spam is likely the most current competitive build with 3 ravagers or 2 and a void raven, buy the archon if you want a beat stick commander or take a cheaper commander.
There is much debate on true born whether to arm them with 4 blasters or 2 Splintercannon. I think it depends on your list. I field one squad of each.
Maybe take one squad of wyches with haywire grenades in a raider. Fill the rest of your points up with cheap 5 man warrior squads(I give mine blasters) and 2 splinter cannon venoms with Night Shield(personal opinion, I find it helps greatly in the early game). And there is your list.
Some people like reaver bikes, I prefer Scourges. I have used reavers in the past to great effect.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

I'm not sure about true born yet, I was thinking taking incubi with an archon. Debating on how to run my fast attack as I love the scourges, bikes, and hellions.

I'm not sure how competitive this list is but it's hard enough where I can see the nerves on my enemies face.
Archon: shadow field, combat drugs, phantasm grenade launcher, and a weapon (husk blade or venom blade)
Drazhar
8 incubi
Raider: flickerfield
2x5 trueborn: 4 blasters
2 venoms: splinter cannon
3 "gunboats"
(Gunboats are 10 kabal one with splintercannon, raider with splinter racks)
2 ravangers
Void raven
It puts a lot of pressure and cause people to make mistakes

Well your list is not competitive, you need more synergy. Choose assualty or shooty and build on that. What's your play style?

Incubi. Hellions are good and especially with baron sathonyx. Are you going for army that is strikeable or shootable (able to take fire) if you want a strike army keep on going with da raiders and wyches and stuff but I would start a haemonculi coven if you like armies with big tough beasties. The wyches are a wee bit susceptible to anti infantry fire.

I was hoping to base my army around hellions and reaver her bikes. I like the idea of dizzying numbers of transports dropping off dudes all over the place though, I'll probably be using both the baron and an Archon

11 reavers 20 hellions, venomx3 wyches, raider x1 incubi, venomx2 incubi. Hemi(for token) plus big beast blog(cheap and scary, will draw fire so you csn turbo boost into CC) baron with hellions. Lots of scary with some dissy ravagers to soften up targets. That's a fun army, throw in AS in high point game to be super killy

Incubi are too nice. They will kill pretty much anything they get into combat with and your opponent knows it. Don't waste your points on full warrior squads on raiders. Raiders fall to a stiff breeze and warriors have paper for armor. Mass venoms is where it is at for warrior squads for the multiple splinter cannons they bring. and the slightly cheaper cost. 135 is a bargain for 5 warriors with a blaster, a Venom with two splinter cannon and a night shield.
Drazhar is cool, but don't waste the points. He is too cool and killy.
You will want night shields on your vehicles. I cant tell you how many times they have saved my vehicles being just out of range of enemy weapons.
Hellions are not very competitive if that is what you are going for, also they are fairly hard to transport physically. They tend to get shot up pretty bad having crap for armor and being jump troops.

I was thinking
Archon - not sure how to equip. probably with that 2++ and huskblade.
the Baron - to have a fast back field scoring unit of hellions, or to mop up injured enemy units.
2 5 man units of Warriors in Venoms,
2 5 lady squads of wyches in venoms
4 incubi in a venom (archon goes here)
10 hellions
5 scourges with haywire blasters
6 reavers with 2 cluster caltrops and heat lances.
and 2 of those bombers.
Not sure how many points this is, and this is my thoughts before playing any games. my fast attack choices are based on liking the 3 units I chose, but not sure how each will perform in the roles I want them too.
