So i was messing around on army builder and noticed if i was using the vanilla codex i could equip power weapons and a storm bolter on a tactical squad sergeant. If i switch the codex to UM or IF or any others I'm not able to use that equipment set. I looked in the 6th ed sm codex and from what i understand you may not have a power weapon and a storm bolter, it's one or the other. Now normally army builder is very good about sticking to the rules with its wargear allocations. So my question, is there something in the codex that might support this equip or is it a glitch in army biulder?

C:SM page 167: "The Space Marine Sergeant or Veteran Sergeant may take items from the Melee Weapons and/or Ranged Weapons lists."

Perfectly legal to take a Storm Bolter and a Power Weapon.

OK. Now i Read it again and its clear as day. Army builder had me confused. Now I wonder why if Im using a specific army on army builder it doesn't let me use that wargear set.

likely a bug in the system, always trust in thy eyeballs and codex rather than allow a program to tell you what is and what isn't permitted.

loads of mistakes happen and lists start getting sloppy when you do that.

Army builder is not a rules source. It is often incorrect.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Nutty_nutter,
I remember someone fielding a 2000+ point list for a 1500 point game thanks to an 'error in the software.' I don't know how much of the excuse I believe, but given my distrust in programs I gave them the benefit of the doubt. It didn't really make much of a difference as he forfeited the game at that point with some secondary excuse that he didn't have time to play the game after all. As it was a friendly random game, we just shrugged it off, but it is a good example of why you shouldn't trust Lists built with programs.

That excuse about not having enough time to play is one I don't believe, whom sits down to a 1500 point Warhammer game with less then a hour to play?!

done my fair share of list checking for local tournaments and the worst lists are those generated by a program.

it's gotten to the point where we sort the lists first and put all the generated ones in one pile to go through after the hand written/typed out lists.

You can always correct the army builder errors yourself. ABCreator comes with Army Builder. I've also gone into it and copied all of the rules from my codex and BRB, so on the last page it doesn't say (See WH40k BRB page 47), it just says the rule. I have my army list and every special rule associated with my army on 4 pages.

Just save backups, when AB updates 40k, it overwrites them.

That's what I did with the tyranid battlescribe files. I didn't trust others to make the updates correctly and decided to do them myself, and still screwed it up a bit xD. Got it all fixed, but it was a learning experience.
