Hello fellow DakkaDakka members!

I have just got the Dark Eldar codex and I have read the tactics section in the back. Now I don't doubt that it was written based on actually Dark Eldar armies but I would prefer to have first hand advice on how to use them. I have heard of Venom spam but I am curious if there are any other army types. I do realize this it a bit clichéd but if you could give me tips on efficient armies it would be very useful to start an army!

Beastpacks are solid and quite popular. Ravagers are amazing. Venom spam is good. Reaver Jetbikes take a bit of finesse, but taking a Reaver focussed army is no bad thing. Haemonculi are by far the best HQ, as they are cheap and unlock Wracks as troops, which are excellent.

That is a very quick summary, what sounds good to you/catches your eye and I can give more info.

Local DE player in my area uses Grotesques very well with tooled up characters. They are hard to get rid of and can put out some major punishment as well.

I use Grotesques a lot and they work out very well - especially when accompanied by a powerful character (be it Urien, Lilith, an Archon or Succubus).

Beastpack is very solid and strong (though also very expensive money-wise).

Venoms are great in both firepower and to mitigate losing too many models to an explosing vehicle.

Ravagers are great, Razorwings are just as good (both have pros and cons)

Small units of Trueborn with blasters are pretty much standard and extremely deadly.

Some people have had success with Talos as well as Wyches; however, it takes a lot more fineness to run DE with such troops due to their close combat nature. It's possible but definitely not the easiest build to do well will at the moment.

Thanks a lot guys! I now have a better understanding of how people play DE.
