Hello,
With new formation for nidz coming out soon, which seems really good, i'd like to know what other people would do with it and what kind of list they would use it in.
Im assuming that formation consists of 3xHgaunts, 3xTgants, 1xWarrior brood.
HQ: 460
Flyrant /w 2tl devourers
Flyrant /w 2tl devourers, Hive commander
This is pretty standard for nidz due to obvious reasons. Same old, same old.
Elites: 45-90
1x Venomthrope
(0-1)x Venomthrope
Venomthropes are really nice in keeping you backfield warriors alive and getting more bang for your buck from swarm.
Troops: 450
Endless swarm:
-10x Termagaunts
-10x Termagaunts
-10x Termagaunts
-10x Hormogaunts
-10x Hormogaunts
-10x Hormogaunts
-3x Warriors /w Barbed Strangler
10x Termagaunts
10x Termagaunts
Legal and minimal (except barbed strangler) troops selection comes at 450 points. It gives you good amount of scoring units which can be very annoying to deal with if combined with venomthrope(s). You could buy upgrades for swarm units but I don't think there's enough space for that at
1500 pts.
Heavy Support: 255
Trygon Prime /w miasma cannon
Trygon is here to allow destroyed swarm units to come up in opponents deployment zone or right next to objectives. I'd prefer prime as it is additional synapse(which nowdays is extremely important) and has accesses to Miasma cannon which can tear apart a lot of scoring units from eldar, tau, IG, DE, orks, daemons etc and can even rip apart tougher opponents due to poisoned 2+.
All of this leaves me only with 270 for more threating stuff. I could take hive crone and 3 biovores, or drop hive commander and barbed strangler for 2x Dakkafexes. However, I have no idea what I should game and if this list would be any good without any good answer against heavy armor etc.

Another trygon ? I think only 1 unit per turn can pop out of each tunnel.
I dont think 10 gants popping out of a tunnel is going to scare many people.
I think if your going to go with a particular strategy, it is always better to go big. I would go with 2 formations and another trygon. Thats 14 disposable units starting turn 1, 2 MCs turn 2, and hopefully 2 units a turn coming out tyour tunnels until turns 5 or 6 if you lose enough units and roll enough 4+. Automatically Appended Next Post: As an example. A waveserpent puts out about 10 twinlinked shots/turn. 5 waveserpents (cost 1050 including dire avengers) will remove most of your formation in one round of shooting (say first turn). Turn two your single trygon comes up and gets removed. Tun 3 you now have 1 min squad of gants coming out that tunnel and the formation is effectively no longer a threat.

While I like the endless swarm idea, I am worried about using the minimum squads. It will let them spawn multiple times, but the problem will be actually holding objectives. Most squads could wipe out the minimum gants squads in one turn of shooting, which means when Turn 6 comes all your troops will be shot off of objectives. It won't matter that you can respawn when the game ends with them off the board.
I would use the extra points you have to double all the troop squads (except the warriors), or at least get more bodies on them.

I posted a "concept army" for Endless, called Endless Tunnel Assault. I used two Tyrgons to get lots of Tunnel Assault action. That way when a Gaunt Brood dies and pops back into Reserve, it can Tunnel Assault, and start out right next to the enemy and/or VP locations...
I agree that the Miasma Cannon is a good item. But the Swarm is expensive, and the basic army is too...so I suggest saving points wherever you can....
