So I'll jump right into it. I have a few Kill Team games coming up and I've never played it before. I got most of the rules down except I'm not sure what special rules are where since I don't have the book. I know you can't just tell me but let me know if what I chose is illegal or what a better choice might be. I got 2 potential lists I'm thinking.

Imperial Guard (Need 1 more USR) Have lots of IG so can switch out for whatever, even rough riders.
Vet Squad - Forward Sentries (Camo Cloaks, Snare Mines)
Sergeant - Leader
Autocannon - Ignores Cover
Flamer - Infiltrate
Grenade launcher
Melta Gun
4 regular dudes

7 Ratlings
------------------------------------------------
Dark Angels (I only have these two scout squads)
Scout Squad - Camo Cloaks, Sniper Rifles
Veteran Sergeant - Leader
Heavy Bolter - Ignores Cover
4 Snipers

Scout Squad - Camo Cloaks, Sniper Rifles
Sergeant - Fleshbane
Missile Launcher - Stealth
3 Snipers

Alrighty let me know what you guys think.

40k is as exciting as riding a pony, which doesn't sound very exciting.......

But the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in CHAINSAWS!

Snipers are just not worth it as Dark Angels. Would be better to run as Codex Marines and even then, would be better just as a 10 man tactical squad. BS4 with 3+ armor is just better.

Make sure you've got things that can reliably hurt AV11. Rhinos are pretty great in Kill Team because it's protecting two guys, who because they are individual units, can fire at two targets. It's also a storm bolter. Great 35 point investment for anyone running Marines.

Can you bring Sentinels with IG? AV total has to be 33 or less.

Yeah Scout sentinels total 30av armored being 32av. I thought about it, I have 3. I just have no idea what the meta is for kill teams and I want to have fun and not just die over and over.

Sadly I only have the scouts for Dark Angels. I normally use them for allies so i can get librarians and techmarines with power field generators.

So maybe a vet squad with some grenade launchers for AV11 and sentinels for the multi-laser. Scout sentinels have move through cover and scout so that would be handy.

Don't forget you can name vehicles as your specialists. You only can't name beasts/monstrous creatures as specialists IIRC. The restriction on vehicles is you need at least 4 models that are not them.

So yeah, Sentinels would be pretty nasty I think.

The thing is, there really isn't a "meta" for kill team because at 200 points, it's rather rock/paper/scissors. I just think you really ought to bring light armor if you can because it forces people to either blow specialists to get something just to combat them and in which case you can simply shoot that guy first.

We're doing a Kill Team event in April so I've been wracking my brain non-stop with different lists and the fun part is, each one I think of would demolish the one I just wrote, but would get whooped by the one I wrote two before that. I think I'm going to settle on just a 5 man sternguard squad with a Rhino mostly because I think it'd be a lot of fun to paint up a Deathwatch unit, and not because it'd be terribly competitive. Anyone else running more elites-style lists, and I'd be fine, but someone running a Gaunt swarm on me would probably end my run.
