Had a funny idea to combine my Dark Eldar force with a friends, borrowing some of his Corsair project for a fun list.
Basically, it involves a giant horde of hellions, with reavers to protect flanks and offer support against flanks and choppy units, with an armored frontal assault launched by 3 tantalus full of blasterborn squads, preceded by an alpha strike of corsair fun (you know the usual), making use of night fighting for a switch up and then a hopefully quick mop up.
THE LIST:
HQ: The baron.
Need for Hellion troops, which I've always been partial to despite the obvious drawbacks. Also turns a Razorwing Flock of Beastmasters into a beatstick of epic lulzy proportions.
ELITES:
3 10 man squads of the lovable Blasterborn
TROOPS:
4x Squads of Green Goblins
I meant Hellions. Add powerweapons to taste.
FAST ATTACK:
2x 6 Reavers, 2 cluster caltrops for shenanigans! ( heatlances optional, and most likely not necessary. doesnt hurt though with points to spare )
1x Beastmaster Unit: 2 or 3 BM's chock full of Razorwings. Hot shizzle. Pair with the Baron for tears.
HEAVY SUPPORT:
3x Tantalus, night shields n all. Mount the blasterborn in this : key for the bait and switch.
Now, hopefully this will be a big game. I ususually fight my father's black templars as my testing army, and he likes his land raiders.
Over 2k, double detachments.
FIRST DETACHMENT : ELDAR CORSAIRS
HQ
Corsair Prince with Bladesworn, cheap, add melta grenades. Mount in Falcon. with bright lance.
TROOPS
2x 10 man corsairs. 2 EMLs. Prepare for the dakka.
FAST ATTACK
You saw it coming - 3Man Squadron of Hornets, double pulse lasers on all.
SECOND DETACHMENT:
HQ
Same as above.
TROOPS:
1 of the above troops squads, for 3 total.
FAST ATTACK:
Same as above.
THE GAME PLAN
TURN 1
Charge. Suicide charge. Go for it. Launch the falcons and the hornetes turn 1 against any and all transports. Shooty vehicles get priority, then transporty vehicles. Keep the bright lances to fire last for a last chance in case, somehow, the 12 pulse lasers havent seriously hurt the opposition.
TURN 2
Are you still alive? GREAT! disembark and charge nearest vehicle in range that wants to go splodey. Pull back all remaining vehicles for standby to deal with incoming threats or flyers. CHARGE WITH ALL OF THE TANTALI. KEEP THE PRESSURE ON - DONT WORRY, HELP IS ON THE WAY! Keep prince in Falcon if still alive, if not dont move! Fire that night fire void lance! but only one. Keep the other prince safe for now! Hopefully most enemy vehicles that were on the board are toasted to smithereens, and you are somewhat protected from a round 2 retaliation, given you survived round 1's. NOW: FIRE. fire every blaster. fire every disintegrator cannon shot at the flesh spilling out of the transports. DIE!!!!
You should be somewhat protected by nighttime fighting if you stayed at the edge of your ranges like a good boy. Night shields sure do help here!
TURN 3: Depending on what reinforcements arrive, send reavers after infantry to soften them up, and hornets / falcons after flyers or more vehicles! ROLL FOR THE DEEPSTRIKE GOODNESS OF THE CORSAIRS! Deepstrike every corsair squad behind the enemy lines, taking charge during the confusion to pump those missile launchers and lasblasters in their faces! DAKKA!! Next, CHARGE THE HELLIONS INTO THE FLESHY MASS OF INFANTRY! You are here to table the suckers, there's no sense fighting fair. Shoot what wants to be charged, and charge those who would rather shoot. You know the drill.
Turn 4+ Mop up! My dad puts most of his points into his tanks, so he's rpetty low on infantry after the 1 - 2 punch of no less than 11 vehicles hitting him. All that anti tank and anti heavy infantry dakka should cover your regular troops enough to charge his regular troops, where they will either get chopped, or eat return fire after a victory.
Pulse lasers have 2 shots each, usefull against those flyers! You also have ONE SPARE NIGHTTIME FIGHTING void lance! in case your eldar are toast but your darkies need the survivability. IF THEY SOMEHOW SURVIVE, grab those objections with your hellions, use your tantalus as large funky spiky shields.
Sounds fun on paper, its hilarious in practice.
