So, I'm getting back into 40k after a bit of a hiatus.

One thing I want to do is paint my Warrior Prime. At this stage I'm wondering whether it is worth pulling him apart to magnetize him. Currently he is carrying a Death Spitter and LW/BS combo.

I've had a couple of games with the new codex. Shooting seems to be the way to go, with Min squad of Warrior providing some effective support fire to the little gribblies. That being the case I think the Prime could simply stay as he is.

My question is whether players with more experience of the new dex think he would be better off in other roles and/or with different equipment?

Thank you.

It's absurdly overpriced, if I were taking a Prime it would be without upgrades as I'd be taking it purely for Synapse hiding in a big brood of termies.

The Norn is an option, however, though pricey it does give you a large Synapse bubble on a durable platform.

You know what really bugs me? When my opponent, before they show up at the FLGS smears themselves in peanut butter and then makes blood sacrifices to Ashterai by slitting the throat of three male chickens and then smears the spatter pattern into the peanut butter to engrave sacred symbols into their chest and upper arms.
I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

"Long ago in a distant land, I, M'kar, the shape-shifting Master of Chaos, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Grey Knight warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"

Yeah, I agree with PrinceRaven.

Compared to other HQ IC units in the game he's absurdly overpriced, albeit a durable synapse node when thrown in a unit of 30 gants and a venomthrope for improved cover.

While over-priced at his basic statline and even more over priced kitted out with upgrades I still like running a prime because he is harder to dig out of a brood.

I've run mine with LW/BS and Talons and stuck him in a brood of dakkafexes for embedded synapse and melee deterent.

I'd say a Naked prime + 3 biovores in a bastion.

Could also add norn crown

I actually quite like Scy-tals + Miasma Cannon in a large unit of outflanking Warriors with Deathspitters. Keeps him relatively cheap while being able to put out anti-infantry fire with the unit and allows him to tank wounds guilt-free.

i play a very aggressive, swarmy nids list, all my bugs are fast moving and aim to get into CC asap. i use a prime, and hide him in a large hormagaunt squad.

i give it lash whip & bonesword, rending claws, and adrenal glands.

I wouldn't go to the trouble to take it apart...Lash/Bone, plus Deathspitter makes him a all purpose dude....
