Hey all, you may have seen my conversions in the finished gallery, if not it's these guys here

As you can tell I like do organic/daemonise battle engines, needless to say this was inspired by the chaos daemon engines, however I feel I can make them more daemonic/organic by kitbashing, here's my ideas (both of which should leave me with enough bitz to kitbssh some random stuff

Anyway enough blah blah, first a dragon/ helldrake

Or a slaughterbrute/maulerfiend

Oh man, the dragon/heldrake would be so flippin' awesome!

I think that's the one I'm leaning toward, first anyway haha

I would personally like to see the slaughterbrute/maulerfiend had a go at. I always thought the Slaughterbrute would make a good basis for a more demonic/less mechanical Maulerfiend.

That being said, I love all the incredible Helldrake conversions floating around as well.

Funny how such a bad model can inspire so many awesome original conversions.

Whatever you choose, good luck to you.
Peace

Cheers. Maybe I'll just go all out and tackle both at once, more bitz, and I can cross to something else if I get stuck haha

Let the fun begin! Say hello to the concept of my Soul Knight or Knight Grinder (probably the former, the latter sounds like a sex position haha)

I would um.... wait? See if they make chaos knights.

Now while any conversion might be ok for the standard chaos knight, I've heard rumor (not verified, official, or anything close to proven true) that they might even introduce the different variants of the Hell Knights.

If they did, you might want to change how you do your conversion to account for it.

I bought a maulerfiend to use the tentacles and head and such for my own, and I'm going to wait to see what the rules come out to (in the meantime, built my first forgefiend!)

I couldn't wait haha , I bought the knight and I'm not going to be doing anything else with it lol as far as rules go I'm not a big gamer more of a converter/painter so that won't be a huge issue for me

Some assembly work begun, roughly mind you just to get a bit of an idea of what I'm going for

looks good man. I wholly support this project. My only concern is that they torso of the Soul Grinder will protrude too far forward from the body of the Knight and appear awkward and bulky. Provided you make room on the body of the knight so the pieces sit comfortably together.

Cheers mate, definately will be the case, hoping to have the torso sit basically where the standard front goes in ... Hopefully haha

I can't wait to see the finished product dude! I also had this idea when I was doing my Soul Grinder conversion (it's in the desk projects thread) but I didn't think the Knight chassis would've been sufficient for the grinder. Nevertheless dude, hope it comes out strong!

...and I am thinking I may have to steal your soulgrinder/knight idea. But I would have to make it taller to match my other hell knights... hmm.

EDIT-Also I forgot to say I love your guys in the first post, they look fantastic.

Here's a more complete, allbeit very basic/blu-tacked complete look at the soul knight

Do you still plan on giving it cannons or are you wanting it to be CC only?

I'm not sure yet, I'm more of a modeler not a gamer so basically, whatever looks the coolest is what I'm going for here

It's been a while since I've posted on this site, do the majority of my postings on b&c but thought people might like to see the finished chaos knight just about ready for paint

My apologies for an average photo

Looks quite good from this picture.
It would be great to get some more pics from other angles. I'd like to see what you've done with the arms and also what the detail is on top.
My only criticism are photo quality (which you're aware of) and that the pauldrons look a bit blank. I'd recommend sculpting chaotic details and/or using plasticard or a similar product, create the arrowed/spikey edging which most chaos armour features. Also the (presumably) demonic effigy on the right shoulder looks okay but sticks out a bit. I suggest carving it down to fit or filling in the gap with putty and related detail.
lastly I think a few chains here and there would do well. you can find these at craft stores. considering the size of the model they should have small enough chain links for necklace making.
That's how I got the chains I've been using for my models, though since I'm using them to decorate infantry I think next time I will need to find somewhere that sells smaller ones.

Anyway, before I ramble on any further, I like what you've done and look forward to seeing it painted.

Peace

Thanks man as requested here's the back

I do already have chains that I'll pop around the place, also the blank shoulder pad will actually look like this

As for the other pad. I need to do some final greenwork stuff that includes the shoulder, thanks for your coments

oh seeing the result of the work is so deliciously satisfying.

Looks great dude.
I like that you got the shoulder detail fitting nicely against the pauldron.
It all seems to have come together quite well.
Was there a lot of cutting and filing involved or did most of it fit reasonably well?
